OK, It's decided, I want to move here...I absolutely LOVE London!!! Even after yesterday, when all I did was get on and get off the tube only to find out that I got on or off at the wrong location or was on the wrong line heading in the opposite direction of my destination. The exquisite architecture is enough to take your breath away, but the house that holds the crown jewels at the Tower of London did it for me. One of the many pieces I fell in love with was the Sovereign's Scepter that holds a 530 carat diamond among so many other spectacular jewels that glistened from top to bottom, if only I was Queen for even a day! I had to ride the walkway three times in order to get my fix. I even broke down and bought a souvenir, a gaudy icy blue crystal ring in the image of a crown that practically eats up my entire finger, but it was in fact calling my name, so I HAD to have it.
St. Paul's Cathedral is another attraction that I accidentally made it to yesterday due to my inability to ride the tube properly, but it was well worth the mistake. This is the famous church that Charles and Dianna were married. It is very simple yet one of the most beautiful churches I have ever entered. I climbed a whopping 259 steps to the Whispering Gallery where you can whisper to a friend standing on the opposite side of the gallery and hear every word, then I traveled another heart-pumping 119 steps to the Stone Gallery where the views of London were nothing short of spectacular.
Later in the day, I was supposed to meet some friends in Covent Garden for dinner but once again, due to my lack of direction, arrived too late so I ended up dining alone, but to my surprise, found a wonderful Italian restaurant called Carlucci's. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope to return again before I leave for the penne w/ italian sausage.
I knew since my track record of getting lost was bound to repeat itself, I set off to my next destination a couple of hours early. Thank goodness as I arrived just in time to only wait 5 minutes before they opened the doors to the sexy, jaw-dropping sensation of Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre. What a day to remember... I LOVE London!!!
Today was a shock, to my amazement, I had no problems getting around on the tube, as a matter of fact, I feel like an old pro. I met up with a friend and we rode the Original hop on - hop off bus today. This bus is about a 2 hour ride if you decide just to stay on it and tour the city. It takes you to the most important sites and a tour guide tells you tidbits of history of each site as it passes. We were going to ride it for the full two hours but Westminster Abbey was beckoning us to visit and we were so glad we did. It is only open for worship on Sunday's and most likely would not have had time to see it if we waited since our UK tour leaves on Tuesday. The Abbey is in fact one of the most amazing churches I have ever visited. This is where the nation's kings and queens have been crowned and buried since 1066. And, as fate would have it, we found out that on Monday at 3:30pm the Queen will be arriving to celebrate Commonwealth Day. You can bet we will be there with our camera's fully charged and loaded.
Plan for tomorrow will be a river cruise to Greenwich and the Absolute Ice Bar for dinner and cocktails.
Did I say I'm enjoying London???? Well, I'm not only enjoying London, I LOVE LONDON!!!!

Wish we were there.
Sherri, we are so envious. I wish I could get JoEllen on a straight through flight, that'll never happen. I hope you got to see Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, just to people watch. We are waiting for the next posting.
