Mumbai - Feb 19th-20th

We arrived in Mumbai after a 10 hour sleepless night on a train. Mumbai is a very nice city, especially in comparison to Delhi. We only had 2 days in the city so crammed in quite a bit of sight seeing including the famous Taj Mahal hotel which reach the public eye on 26th Nov due to the terrorist attacks, this was a very black day for the city, and a curfew was imposed for 3 days following the event.

We spent the first day walking around the city, visiting Taj Mahal Palace, Gate of India, Chowpatty beach and Leopolds, very famous travellers cafe and also where 5 people died on 26th Nov. You can still see the gun shots in the front window!

That evening we went for a few drinks in a very American sports bar, the drinks in Mumbai are the most expensive compared with the rest of India at around 2 pound for a large Kingfisher.

On the last day we hired a nice tour guide called Ashok who took us on a taxi tour of the following;

Jain temple
Hanging garden - so named because they used to hang people here.
Gandhi's house
The Laundry - In Mumbai men work in an open air laundry in the city where most of the clothes in the city are cleaned.
Real Mumbai - Inner city slums and prostitute area, in Mumbai 55% of the population live in slums quite shocking for a city of 18 million!
Victoria station

A great finish to our Indian experience, South East Asia here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
