So here we are, in our swimming gears, all lubed up with sunscreen and ready to jump in to the warm waters of Bribie Island when an ear-piercing siren blasted through the air. My heart skipped a beat and starts to panic. The siren can only mean one thing....DANGER!... or something bad happened. All the swimmers were told to rush to the shore. The life-saver boat patrolled the waters back and forth...back and forh. The "No Swimming" sign was put in place. The beach-goers stand-by, confused on what's happening. Then the life-savers announced...sharks ! ... fortunately enough no one got eaten or drowned. I somewhat felt relieved 'cos I expected the worst. There has been 4 shark attacks in the fast two months. Jamie argues that the stats is still negligible considering millions of beach-goers flock to the beach in summer months and I couldn't agree more. We are frolicking in their domain. At sea - we become part of their food chain. Not that they like eating humans anyway. If sharks can talk, they'll probably say humans are sour and bitter leaving a bad taste in their mouth. 😊
So we just packed our stuff and drove to the
island's shallow waters. Jamie and Ryan went kayaking, Liam finished reading his book and I just laid a picnic rug under a tree and relaxed whilst listening to birds melodic chorus. Looking out from where I was sitting, a storm is brewing in the horizon. The silhouette of the Glass House mountains in the backdrop looked amazing. We were blessed to just have enough time to chillax and soak in the wonderful scenery of Bribie Island before the storm reached us at around 5pm. Jamie got drenched whilst tying up the kayak on the roof of our 4WD. We drove through the storm but got home safe and sound nonetheless.

Lovely place
On hols from the UK I stayed in the caravan park on the eastern side of the island . Great park and very clean. While boarding I was shore dumped and suffered slight concusion, and a sore neck and bleeeding nose. The lifeguard Paul did some great first aid on me and recovered me to the surf station. Prior to this I found Bribie to be a brilliant beach and with some good waves. A great beach well guarded so if they say get out, then I ll take their word for it. Have recovered well.
