Cost of Stupidity

I've always believed that stupidity should be punished and it should have some cost associated with it.
So her is the cost of my latest stupid moment.

In nontangibles like time and such the cost is a missed Australian day in Perth, and about 8 hours of running around and standing in lines.

Money wise this is the cost:
5000 Pesos = ~$10
$100 US
100 Hong Kong Dollars = ~ $15
Cost to get properly pissed in Makati (Buckhead, 6th Avenue, North (something in Indy) neighborhood of Manila) ~5000 pesos = $10
Cost for pics = 300 pesos = $6
Cost for phone calls 100 pesos = $2
Cost for fedex of stuff to somewhere maybe $50
Cost to US embassy for new passport = $100

total cost almost $300.

Oh well its only money.
The biggest intangible is the loss of all the cool stamps that were in my passport.
The gain is another week or so in the Philippines.

So what happened.
I don't really know.
Yesterday at lunch I packed for the airport.
Then went out to mail a postcard and do some internet stuff. Blog and update software on my Ipod.

My airline tickets were in my bag. As was my passport, ATM, credit card, and some US and hong kong cash for the flight. This last group was all in one small purse/bag to keep it together.
So when I got back to the hotel to get my bag and catch a cab, the bag with the passport was gone.
I don't think it was stolen.
My initial thought was that it fell out when I got the postcard out in the mall. So I dashed up to the mall, not expecting much but maybe.
Nothing.
Next is maybe it fell out at the internet cafe....Nope not there.
My main thought was still the mall.
But on a subsequent trip around to look or something, cancel cards maybe, I don't know.
I found a woman's hair scrunchy in the street. This scrunchy matched the ones I have to use as money clips.
I found this right outside my hotel, in the street.

So what is next.
Credit cards and ATM have been canceled. I have backups on different accounts so that is clean.
Spent the morning at the Embassey, I have a new passport coming in 7-10 business days.
But he said to call on Friday... maybe I'll call a week from Monday.

Other than that.
I'm pissed at my stupidity, I know better than that.
I'm upset at losing my stamps. They were a cool record of where I'd been.
But I'll get over that is as well. I didn't realize I was so sentimental.

On the good side, looks like I'm going to see more of the Philippines at the expense of parts of Australia.
It could be worse, I could be in Kansas.

Bad Luck
Sorry Farrell about your bad events that took place. Maybe you should get a passport holder that you put around your neck. That's what I use. Do you want me to send you mine? Just kidding. My prayers are with you.

wow that really does suck! Passport stamps are the best souvenirs, at least that's my opinion, so I feel your pain.
