Caught it with my own hands......
Finally took some time from my busy schedule to write another action packed entry to the blog ala Bevan.

We arriveds into Cancun 5 days ago now. And many beverages have been consumed so my memory is...lts say...clouded.

Well we arrived into cancun airport at it was pretty cool. After seeing the likes of Sydney, Chicago, Dallas, London it was interesting to be surrounded by lots of happy people in holiday instead of the crazy hoards of people in the big cities. Almost relaxing. We got on our bus and found our hostel without too much drama. Downtown Cancun was cool. Reminds me much of Thailand. Very poor, run-down buildings, and a good mix of locals and tourists. I was very cautious of the area, thou. Just thinking that the Mexican people are a bit dodgey.....
After a short walk around the area and a quick stop for beers, tequila and Fajitas, we dacided to jump on a bus and head to the "hotel" zone and may run into Mike. Our friend from Calgary. The Hotel zone was crazy. In amongst all the poor people of the area is the monstrosity on Cancun. Dozens and Dozens of hotels everywhere. Tourists everywhere, markets, bars, restaurants, everything. This is not Mexico. This is simply another Florida, or Surfers Paradise. Really couldnt wait to get out of there. I was looking for somehting new, something exciting. Not this. So we jumped on another bus and pissed off out of there.

Of to Isla Mujeres now. A SMALL island just off the North east coast of Cancun. Nice place! And a really cool Hostel! Poc Na Hostel is right on the beach, has a big communal area, beach bar, nice cheap food. and a cheap place to stay. Isla Mujeres is about 10km long and 1km to 500m wide. very laid back and full of back packers. I like it. The beers are about $20 ( Pesos ) which is about $1.50 AU. Sweet. and Pina Coladas are fantaastic and about $3 AU. We decided to Head to the beach and it was different.
The beach at the hostel was ok. There is lots of unfinished construction here. hotels, and a run down esplanade. Dont know why. I could imagine lots of money here cause of tourism, something must've happened. dunno. Sorry, i'm not much of a guide. must do more research.

Na stuff it.

So not really to much else report. Just really enjoying it here. The sun, the sand, cheap drinks, cheap accommodation. all good. Gotta go now. Our new friend Kelly's 30th B'day today, so we are setting up balloons and streamers, cheese and crackers and wine. On the pier and watching the sun set over the Carribeean sea.

Hope all is well with you all

Bevan
