So one bad thing about living in the third world is the lack of water consistency.... wait actually its more like one of the travails of living in this crack house. Apparently we are supposed to be priming the pump every day, but none of us knew that. So of course the water ran out yesterday. When we have no water, the kitchen becomes a condemned zone. But its nice knowing your neighbours, just ran down now to wash a fork for my dinner. Of course, since none of the glasses are clean, we are passing the wine bottle around.

So I got my rescue diver certification last week. Yea I can rescue people! I had to do the skills first in the pool, did fine there except I couldnt find the ring at the bottom. Thankfully missing people are much larger than missing rings! Then I had two scenarios in the open water. First victim was Delvin, who is quite large and muscular... happily he was my conscious victim... he did quite a bit of kicking back to the boat for someone who sliced his leg on coral! For which my prescription was amputation.
Then I got to save Carl. He was my missing unconscious victim.... I had only met him the night before when he got drunk and danced on the floor. So I made sure to properly introduce myself before I faked giving him rescue breaths! Of course, I can get them to the boat just fine. But getting them onto a boat... well let's just say I'll be making sure there's always a few guys around who can help me heave the dead body back into the boat!

Now I am onto the Dive Master cert. Got a 100 percent on my physiology test last night. In the open water course you learn that you can DIE. In the DM course you learn the myriad hundreds of ways in which you might DIE. Its quite interesting. Tomorrow I get to assist with an open water class, in our freezing murky pool. Taking the speciality reviews is fun though, we go down to one of the instructors houses, do the review with a beer or wine, take the test, then get knackered with them afterwards.

Havent been diving in four days though. I should never have said I know how to drive stick. Today was the kicker though, I was supposed to bring people to the canopy tour, and sneak onto the canopy tour myself. Jason and I had it all figured out. So of course when we go to pick up the people from the cruise ship, the van doesnt start. Brian is out diving on the other side of the island, and Jason and I are like well wtf. Call up Vanessa, one of the old instructors, to see if she can help out. Since the resort had sent a van as well to pick up a singles party, she called them and the guy was like ok ill put them in a taxi. But after the canopy tour they were going scuba diving. So I had to pick them up anyways. Right now, we have the instructor course going on at our shop, so the instructor for it lent us the keys to his truck so we could at least pick up the couple going canopy/scuba-ing. We call Jesus back, and say hey we can come pick up the canopy people. He says no problem mon Ill bring them up to the resort with the singles party. So when the van comes, where are the canopy/scuba divers.... still waiting at the GD cruise ship. There went our canopy plans... and its a crappy day for the cruise shippers!

Going out tonight to the West End. Cheap drinks and good taco drunk food, West End is where its at!

I wish I was...
there with you. That's so funny about Carl and Delvin. Note to self: Don't ever let you near my limbs!

Yah the whole water thing can be such a bitch. I am not sure if reading your blog makes me want to learn how to dive more or less. I think I might do it over my next break instead of waiting two semesters. I can't tell you how freaking jealous I am that you have a place to buy tacos.

Just thought I'd let you know that right now I can't brush my teeth because once again I have no water.
