So, first off, my backpack got left in Texas. Super start to the trip. I still don´t have it, but I have been told that it is going through customs and should be at my hostel in a few hours. My fingers are crossed. So lets just say that last night was a bit ...disapointing. I spent the morning sitting around the pool being in a generally bad mood and worried about if it was even going to come back. At the time it was completely MIA.

This mornging I met my first friend, Lisa, who I have been walking around town with most of the afternoon. She is from Austrailia and leaves tomorrow morning. I will stay in San Jose for another night and then take off. I still haven´t figured out where I will go next. Think about it in the morning.

San Jose has been a bit of a culture shock for me. The driving is a bit crazy and people use their horns all the time. It is nuts. There doesn´t seem to be much concern for traffic laws here. The weather has been both hot and sunny as well as slightly chilly with rain. Other than that, I really haven´t done a whole lot as of yet. Just general wandering and taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. My plans for the rest of the evening is to grab a few beers with Lisa and head back to the hostel and wait for my things to (hopefully) arrive.

I have another friend, Melody, who arrived in Costa Rica a day before I did and I will try to meet up with her for the few days that she is here. I just have to find her first. ...small problem there I guess.

I'm glad you made it safe and i'm sure your pack will show up shortly. Its a different world walking out of the airport isn't it. The hearts on the road are for the people that have been hit by cars and died. Crazy driving. Good luck and work your way to manuel antonio. Its amazing

Bag Be Found
Dear Sir, Following extensive research that included misplaced, stolen and misappropriated backpacks and luggage, it has been determined that a proper dosage of Bag-Not-Be-Gone ointment applied to said item would result in said item following you about. Thank you very much, Ben Fond, Center for Lost Luggage

Carry On!
Hey Jack, Glad to hear you've arrived safely in San Jose, even if without your luggage. Carry on is the only way to go! Maybe there's some perverted law of the universe that misdirects new travelers' luggage just for fun. We'll keep up with your blog so we know where you are and what you're up to. Don't drink the water. :) Love you, buddy, Katie

Great Pix!!!
How weird is it to be surrounded by monkeys and iguanas? Sounds like you are starting to have a good time. Culture shock can take a few days but you are moo-ie adaptable - like my Spanish? I love you - we love you- stay safe and keep in touch!
