beijing 1st onput

hello all!!!
well only been here for a few days but so mny things to say; lara and i when at newcastle got a final call for our flight coz we were late on checking in; then in heathrow we met up with marie and there was well over 100 met police there and eventually turned out there was this big old protesst for the third runway being built and there was naked bodies everywhere; we met up with a woman and her daughter (10 years old) they were going travelling for 4 months 9(egypt then into cambodia and thailand); we then checked into our flight and again had the final call for us; we had to get the underground to our gate number which we didnt realise; the fight was actually ok; slept for a little bit but the entertainment was really good; there was over 20 movies and music, documentaries; sport. when we got to beijing the airport was brand new and wow clean; its was quite and so pleasent. it wasnt too cold; dry at least; the smog, urgh!!! then getting a taxi was a mission because they dont speak english and the man didnt even know where we were but we eventally got here, very tired but we got settled and went out for a walk to the tianemann square; its so big and so well guarded; its beautiful in the evening time. we hired bikes today which was fun to say the least; they drive on the opposite side and the lanes are twice the size of our and by the tianaman square its 12 lanes so it was scary but funny. had a proper chinese meal which was lovely and ete with chopsticks; we were sitting but the forbidden city yesterday and everyone started taking photos of us; eventually they sat with us and had their picture taken, when we evetually found someone who spoke little englishe they were saying its because they dont see foreigners and when they do they take photos to show their family; i felt like a total celebrity; they were queing up to spend time with us; very sureal!! we have met s couple today who are frim brisbane; theyre telling us about places to go etc, we change hostels tomorrow to one just up the hutong (allyway). its where we got the bikes today from so were going to keep in touch with them and getting a few of us together to celebrate the new year in Taneman square. Prob got loads more to tell but im going to sigh off and let the others on the comp; i hope eveyone is well!!

hi Em, i have left a private message but thought i would say hello on your main one. so now you know how a celebrity feels. sounds like you are all having fun; so am i trying to keep Conni's stinking bone off my knee whilst i type. wet and cold here so you are luckier than us; i haven't put the horses out since saturday the field is so wet. kitten remains asleep in her bed thankfully and the mice are eating through the ceiling and being really noisy about it. off to do the horses, loads of love to you all, stay happy mum xxxxx
