Vietnam having just beaten Thailand took to the streets in their thousands. Us with our back & front packs on, trying to cross the road - madness!!!
Hello everyone,

Just a quick update just to let you know we are still alive!!

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Papa Jordan!!!

Secondly Happy Christmas to one and all!!!

We are currently in Hanoi in Vietnam after an epic few days of Visa and travel issues.

We arrived late Christmas Eve without a room to stay and trying to dodge the numerous scammers along the way from the airport. We met a great couple from Bristol call Nobby & Helen who travelled with us and on the bus and through the chaotic streets packed with thousands of local people (mainly on motorbikes) celebrating the Vietnamese football victory over Thailand. (see the video it was electric!!)

We have pushed the boat out and are staying in a lovely hotel called Viet Anh Hotel (11 Ma May Street, Hoan Kiem District), there are cheaper places but for us this was exactly what we needed.

We were greeted by a lovely lady called Ming who served us crab soup and Christmas chocolate log cake at 2am - now that's service.

After a good sleep we enjoyed the first baths for over a month!!, we had a buffet breakfast and strolled around Hanoi becoming more confident about crossing through the sea of motorbikes that seem to ride around 24 hours a day beeping their horns!

We had a Christmas dinner at the REAL Kangaroo Cafe, met some experienced travellers who have been tralling since 2002!! (hi Martin and Caroline) and now back in the hotel to hopefully Skype a few of our family and friends as it turns into Christmas Day for you all back home.

We promise to add the Japan and Hong Kong blogs very soon.... we just haven't stopped moving around for a few weeks so it's been difficult to add these.

Missing you all lots and this will certainly be a Christmas we will very forget.

We look forward to celebrating our belated Christmas - June 2009 😊

Love
Andy & Claire

P.S we got out first official Mosquito bites today!!
