The Plan

Additional maps: The Wish List

Well I've just given myself typhoid. Went to the travelers medical center today (over in Foggy Bottom, quite nice) and got the rundown on all the vaccines the CDC suggests. They even provide a handbook you can read to give yourself nightmares. Its a hypochondriacs wet dream!

So I got a prescription for malaria pills, got an oral vaccine for typhoid, and contemplated getting the Hepatitis A shot (told myself if I get hepatitis A, and my mother finds out I didn't get the vaccine I can just imagine her saying nope sorry not visiting you in the hospital you did this to yourself... ) unfortunately the image of me sad and lonely in the hospital was not enough to overcame my ridiculous phobia of needles. Might try again in a few days, they suggested I bring two strong male friends who can hold me down.

Cost so far:
One-way airfare to Roatan $450
Vaccines $120 (typhoid and office visit)

9 days left, and still need to pack up my life, so I'll be going now.

You probably didn't need the Hep A shot. Everyone will have had Hep A once in their life, and the good news is-- you can't get it again. So just hope that you've had it before. Parasites though-- that's a whole different can of worms. :)
