Hello.......

Ok so we finally got off the east coast and inland a little up and away to the misty 'Blue Mountains' so called because of all the Eucalyptus in the air, in makes the mountains in the distance look blue.

So on arrival we wondered around (in the freezing cold) to find our guesthouse............What a place it's called NO 14 for those of you heading that way, and feels just like your living in a massive private house!!! The owner was lovely and we even had a nice feather duvet to snuggle up to........YES it is that cold as only last week they had SNOW!!!!!!! this is bloody Oz for Christ sake, not quite what we expected.!!!

Nic - After checking in I hurridly unpacked all the layers I could find and tried to warm myself up again (It's going to be such a shock to the system to get back to England!!) and then we headed out to see the most visited site there - "The Three Sisters" - A collection of 3 massive rock formations that tower over the forested valleys below and look out onto orange cliffs and mountains in the distance. Each mountain range becomes fainter and bluer the further into the distance you go, and it looks like someone just couldn't be bothered to make the bit in the middle and just left a big gaping whole!

Echo point, the main viewing area for the 3 sisters, was just that, a HUGE tourist attraction with a constant flow of tour buses filled with people from allover Asia, it was almost as if we were back there again! We chose to get away from the crowds and went for a trek down the cliff and along the Valley floor, before climbing back up and visiting a couple of waterfalls.

It really was wonderful to get away from the main backpacker circuit and get out on our own for a bit of nature and a more demure beauty, rather than the brash beautiful beaches that we've seen for the last few weeks!

Dan - The next day we done yet another trek into Oz's 'Grand Canyon' wow what a trek filled with mountains, valleys, Rain forest, Desert, rivers, waterfalls, cliffs you name it, it was there!! apprantly the other side of the blue mountains has an Aboriginal settlement but as it's their land you need to stay away Shame!!

We met lovely German couple who we spent the evenings with and were also kind enough to give us a lift all the way back to Sydney.

Off now to do the Great Ocean road (Perhaps the best drive in the world!!!) in Southern Victoria, hired a car for 3 days so will let you know how we got on soon.

Bye for now
