Today we had a little lie in and then set off to the centre. First we went to the Rocks, which are where the first European settlement was established, the oldest part of the city. (Not old in terms of English old) There were nice little shops and art galleries in the Rocks and some nice old buildings.
We went to Cadmans cottage, the oldest house in Sydney (1816).
We walked up to the Observatory on Observatory Hill (this was a big hill and it was so hot). There are some nice views from up there of the harbor, the bridge and the city. We had our lunch up there, and then set off back down the hill to the Contemporary Art Gallery on the harbor. This was interesting, as is all modern art. They had a special display on by some artist, because it’s the Sydney festival. The best thing was the fat car when you first went in, that looked cool. The rest was strange and hard to appreciate! After an hour in there we went to the internet café to continue our search for jobs and e-mail resumes to everyone so they can say that they’ll get
back to you and then not!
That night Sue’s sister and husband were staying as they were flying from Sydney in the morning for their honeymoon. So that night we had a bbq, which was lovely. We had kangaroo steak, that even I (Mel) liked. It was a nice night.

All of our blogs are going to be pretty uneventful, we apologise for this but we are looking for work. Today we went into Newtown to use the Internet and then into the centre to open bank accounts, to register with agencies and e-mail more resumes. We treated ourselves to a Hungry Jacks (which is Burger King). Andy booked onto a green card course, which is a safety course that you have to do if you want to work on a building site. I got an interview with Select Education for Monday, just for childcare as I haven’t got my qualification approved. (I am however organizing this).
After a very busy day we got back to find out we were going out for an Indian, as it was Aneurin’s last night before he went back to Adelaide. It was nice, but too spicy for me. Later
that evening Sue rung Mandy, so it was really great and strange to speak to her, then we went and rung our people too.

The weather has not and is still not very good, dull and raining. So no beach for us today. More of the same, ringing people for jobs, into Newtown to look on the Internet for jobs and mail more resumes. We went to Marrickville to look around the shopping arcade. Sue and family went to the cinema so we watched a little TV. Had dinner, dad rung us, then bed.

Sue took Andy and I for a drive to show us some of the other suburbs and sights. We went down to a spot where we could see the harbor and then she dropped us off at the Cooks River. From here we walked along the river and all the way back to Enmore, stopping on the way for a coffee and to sign up with another agency we happened to pass. After a couple of hours walking we arrived back home. We had our lunch then sat on the balcony to read and relax.
Later we walked to investigate the Chinese take away (as everyone else was going out tonight so we were looking forward to chilling out on our own). In the end we bought a pizza, garlic bread, beer and wine. We got back and had a little change of plan as Gaynor stayed in. So we all watched TV and veged out.

Today Andy was up early as he was going on his safety course. At 11am I set off into the centre too to go to Dance Central for a couple of classes. They were great! I went to a Hip Hop class, which I loved and then a Jazz Funk Hip Hop class, which we were really worked hard in! It was a great 2 ½ hours! LOVED IT!!
I met up with Andy later in town, his course went well. He had had a test at the end of the day, which made his heart flutter, but he passed!! So we went to Paddys market and bought some steel toecap boots, which we got knocked down to $55!!
We went home, shattered had dinner, relaxed and then bed.

Went to church this morning and met more people. Gwilym and Sue went out for lunch so I made our lunch whilst Andy washed their car. Later we went out to use the Internet to look and apply for more jobs, went for a walk and went back, had dinner, went for another walk and Andy phoned his dad, which was good. We went for a drink in the pub across the road. On our way back we saw an advert for a house share, but particularly asking for a couple in there 20’s!! So when we got back I texted them and arranged to go and view tomorrow morning. See we want to get a house share, as it’s actually cheaper than a dorm in a hostel and better! So fingers crossed.
