This morning we had an appointment to Skype a good friend of mine Bob Yule, at 08.00 at Starbucks.

It was weird, we had parked in the car park last night, looking for a free network to piggyback, sometimes you are lucky most times not, this night we had a short window of free WiFi. Mum and Dad tried to call but it was unsuccessful so we chatted via skype instead.

We saw that Bob was on line so Skyped him a message as he was at work, and does not have a web cam in his office. (Who Does) we mailed each other and asked when it would be convenient to do an open video call, so we agreed we would do it at 10.00pm UK time, that would be at the end of Bob’s day, though we would have a nights sleep before the call.

Arriving at Starbucks at 07.30 and apart from having a good time speaking to Bob and his lovely wife Sue, (Mmmm ! Shepherds Pie) we spent in total 2 hours 40 Minutes on line, reading and sending e-mails and doing some searching for stuff.

We received a call from “Faye Hubbard” the lady who’s house and dog we are to sit in Port Stephens, and it was good to talk to her and sort out the salient details. They have a Labradoodle called Nala (Apparently the name is from the film the Lyon King) and Mr and Mrs Hubbard are from South Africa.

It was our plan that we were going to stay in this apartment until 09-11-2008, but have had second thoughts, if we were to head south after 9th we were going to meander down to Port Stephens arriving around the 20th as the house sit is from 22nd until 29th December, this plan is great but it does not allow us to explore Fraser Island and Double Island before we go, so the loose plane is we leave the apartment on Tuesday 2nd. My only concern with this is, this is the day we have our interviews at Australia Zoo, and the day may be taken up there, still we shall see.

We went to have a look at an agent for Hannibal Roof top tents at a company called (DSS) Dynamic Solar Solutions in Moffat Beach, this was a serious shop for off roading requirements, the proprietor Jamie, was a Brit from Lingfield in surrey who had been away from the UK for over 20 years, he had a 1995 Landover, that was extremely kitted out for the outdoor life, I am going to take a picture of it as long as he gives me permission.

He said something to me that I found quite comical, we were talking about going up North to Darwin, I asked how long it would take us and he said we should allow 3 weeks, we checked how far it was and it is 3420 Kilometres. Australians wouldn’t think twice about selling a vehicle with ½ a million Kilometres on it, or buying it, for that matter.

After a bun on the run for lunch, we got back to the apartment, and we were both saying we were tired we lay on the bed and both nodded off to sleep waking at 4.30

I had said to Caroline that if the evening was warm then we would Barbie, as we had some meat that needed eating, Caroline said she was delirious with the thought of chips and had rifled through yellow pages to find a chip shop. In the end we packed the car up with the Barbie stuff and headed out. I asked Caroline to take the tin foil, and we went to MacDonald’s got 2 portions of chips, wrapped them in 2 layers of tin foil and went to the Barbie site 300 yards from the ocean. All turned out well on the food front.

We finished up where we stared our day, at Starbucks with a coffee after dinner then a short walk.

No pictures today sorry

Ps One last thing, I heard an advert on the radio today, asking what would you do with a $1000.00 dollars, The advert suggested 300 cups of coffee or 1010 litres of fuel.

If you get 250 grams (1/4 Litre) coffee per cup, and you get 300 cups per $1000.00 dollars, (75 Litres) of coffee in total, it goes to show that coffee is more expensive than petrol
