The Sunshine Coast (aka Sunny Coast) definitely lived up to its name during our stay at Maroochydore Beach Holiday Park, located right on the main beach. The weather was perfect for a beach holiday. The marketing slogan sure hit the nail on the head in stating “Queensland is beautiful one day. Perfect the next”. Maroochydore lies at the centre of the Sunshine Coast, with Noosa at the northern tip, and Caloundra at the southern tip. We wanted to visit Maroochydore as it was one of the destinations where we stayed on our honeymoon forty years ago. Our first port of call was the Eumundi Markets, which are purported to be Australia’s biggest and best Artisan markets, and they really did live up to their reputation. The stallholders are actively encouraged to “make it, bake it, sew ... read more

So it has been a long time since I have updated anything. My bad - I have been enjoying the trip to much. I am probably going to forget something that we have done so I may do another post soon. Since I last posted - we were heading south to Wentworth (super small town inland). We went there for a week to pick oranges and grapes. It was pay for what you pick ($35 per orange bin - which were huge and $0.89 per grape bucket) which we got taxed on, super annoying. We were able to cover our expenses for the week and have a little bit left over. We were going to stay another week - but on the last day of picking I did not like it. I was miserable and the ... read more

Hi travel followers. Well, it has been almost another two weeks since the last blog and they just seem to keep racing by. This week we find ourselves at Cotton Tree, Maroochydore on the Qld Sunshine Coast. We thought we would stop here a week or so as there is quite a bit to see in the surrounding area. However, while we were at Chinderah we also decided to do a day trip to the Natural Bridge via Murwillumbah. We had been here at least 30 years ago and so decided we should pay it another visit as it is such a beautiful place. See photos. From Chinderah we spent a night at Miami catching up with an old friend (Maria) of Lyn's from her Air Force days. From there we spent a couple of days ... read more

We had a fabulous campsite on the lake in Maroochydore, right across the road from the South Maroochy River. It was a lovely place to stay, however we did have to visit Bunnings for an electric heater for nighttime....down to 3 degrees (which feels considerably colder in a camper trailer!). We were lucky enough to be here in time for the Eumundi markets on Wednesday, much to Grant and the boys' disappointment. My cousin Leesa was staying in Noosa for the weekend, so I tagged along for some girl market time, while Grant and the boys explored some of the Noosa coast and surrounds. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the markets, and managed to restrain my spending to a moderate level! We also enjoyed the cafés, shops, sunshine and relaxed atmosphere of Mooloolaba and the "best fish and ... read more

The Sunshine coast and hinterland North of Brisbane is a wonderful place to visit. We stayed for 4 nights at Cotton Tree. We had an apartment with super coastal views towards Moloolaba. I enjoyed a round of golf at the well manicured Horton Park Golf Club. On one hole there were what seemed like hundreds of cockatoos flying around in the early evening. There were some lovely walks along the long sandy beaches and esplanades of Maroochydore and Moloolaba. The Boat Shed restaurant in Maroochydore was first class. We travelled further North to watch the surfers at upmarket Noosa Heads. Inland we drove to Montville and then Maleny. We visited the Mary Cairncross tropical rain forest. We saw many bush turkeys and the Pademelon Rainforest Wallaby. The red cedar and strangler fig trees were stunning. On ... read more

Saturdaywas a beautiful sunny day in Mooloolaba and a good day for doing a load of washing. Once this was done, we heard from our friend Michelle that she was coming up from Brisbane for a visit, and she arrived around 11. Took the opportunity of her car to do a shopping run to Coles and take in some of the sights of Mooloolaba and Marochydore along the way. Lunch at the Surf club with views over the bay and the Dragon boat races, a couple of drinks, stroll along the beach and some exorbitantly priced yoghurt made for a relaxing afternoon. Michelle headed home and we went for our last hot showers for a while, and made the boat ready for our big day tomorrow. Thanks for coming down Michelle, lovely to see you. Its ... read more

Jetsetters Rob, Nessa and Princess Jasmine, were holidaying on the sunny coast, in a luxury, ocean front apartment, with magnificent views out to sea, from point Cartwright, right up the sunny coast to Maroochydore and beyond. Meanwhile Bilbo and Basho were roughing it out on John and Janes picturesque farm at Nambour, all it took was a bottle of wine and some fine winter garments for the princess, and we were in for the nght, as long as we kept a low profile, used the tradies entrance, as to not tip off the locals that royalty had come to town. A great afternoon with stories from lands far away washed down with upmarket beer and exotic dukkah dips, belly laugh entertainment by princess Jasmine topped off a great afternoon, with the southerners. Come sundown we settledown ... read more

My last blog was a few days delayed when I sent it because it wouldn't publish so it may seem time overlaps. I have been on the Sunshine Coast for 9days now and it looks like I will be here for another week or so in Maroochydore. I am staying at Cotton Tree Holiday Park, a big camping ground that is surrounded by the river that opens out to the ocean. With the entire park so close to the water, I have been lucky enough to find a site that has water front views, perfect to watch the sunset and immerse myself in the relaxation that fills my soul. I have been having such a great time as the days slip by slowly, filled with walks on the beach, spending time with friends I made here ... read more
