Kuala Lumpur
Twin Towers.. Days 81 - 86
Woke up this morning with the full intention of going shopping but on walking round i quickly realised it was more like dartford market than bluewater and all the shops did a thing called free size which is stupid nothing fits everyone?! They still tried to get me to buy their size 6 clothes and said they'd stretch to fit ha ha most likely cutting off circulation to the rest of my body!! Managed to get couple of tops but that's about it.. Planned to go see Quarantine tonight so sat around in Starbucks then went over.. It is absolutely pants, a bit like Blair Witch Project in the way it's filmed lasts about an hour but such a waste of time..
Could not be arsed to get up the next day not really much about to do so i just wandered around but it's soo hot and humid i ended up jumping in a cab to the shopping mall again as it's air conditioned ha ha.. Tried out some Malaysian food have no idea what it was some kind of vegetable or maybe tofu?? Wasn't bad though.. Ended up just wanderong around and then
Kuala Lumpur
Merderka Sq.. going to see Madagascar 2 which was a lot better than Quarantine!! Planning on heading to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow so booked our bus which was about 3 quid and only about a 4hour journey..
Left for Kuala Lumpur at 10:30 got a taxi (teksi) to the bus station.. It's so much easier here to get trains and buses than in Europe everyone is so much more helpful sometimes overly helpful but not the shouting crazy people like we met in most of Europe!! I wasn't in the best of moods as couldn't really sleep the night before but the journey wasn't too bad and managed to sleep through some of it.. It didn't really seem like we were in Asia anymore as it was soo clean more like driving through the south France, and once we got into Kuala Lumpur it was like being somewhere more lke Europe.. The hotel we booked into wasn't bad except the toilet cubicles doubled up as showers ha ha?! Was still a bit tired so stayed in ordered a pizza and watched a few films..
Planned to see the city today so picked up a map and headed to the twin towers
with the skybridge unfortuately though it was fully booked for the day and not open mondays so out of luck.. Also went to Merderka Sq where they have their flag after lowering ours in 1957 and becoming their own nation.. The map we had was absolute crap with no scale so just decided to wander around and ended up in Chinatown which is much like the one in London with all the restaurants but also has a market during the day.. Got back to the hotel quite quick and so decded to wander in the other direction and found times square.. A huge shopping mall, 9 floors and on the 5th they had a theme park!!!!!! It was amazing the place was enormous.. On the way back walked along Bintang Walk which was a bit disappointing but supposedly better of a night?? As i'd managed to see most of wat i'd wanted to decided to leave the next day onto Singapore..
It was still only about 6 so went back to times sq and picked a random film GP506 which after joking that it was a Chinese film actually turned out to be Korean ha ha.. It did have subtitles
but not sure at times whether or not they were relevant, which made the film quite comical when i think it was supposed to be a horror ah ha..
Our bus to Singapore left at 10:30 and was supposed to take 5 hours but after making 3 half hour stops in the first 4 hours it was most like an 8 hour journey and we eventually arrived late afternoon.. Found a backpackers hostel after trying some hotels which were well out of our price range.. We ended up in Little India supposedly the cheapest area of Singapore.. Also on the way in saw a football pitch on water?? We went for a drink after checking into our dorm and quickly realised it was alot more expensive than the rest of Asia that we'd become used too.. Not planning on doing much here will probably wander around for a bit see what i stumble across..
Managed to book our flights to Cairns online for the 26th arriving on the 27th November so we have two nights in Singapore and then on to Australia to attempt another road trip down the east coast, hopefully this time we get further than 300
Kuala Lumpur
The theme park in the shopping centre.. miles before breaking down ha ha.. Our pan is to start in Cairns then travel down to Brisbane, then get to Sydney for Christmas and onto Melbourne for New Year..

Things will be hot
Hi Nance, Sounds like things are all going well. I laughed when I read about you just going to shops to get into the air con. I used to do that when I was in Singapore. In the morning I used to walk from the Ritz carlton hotel to our office which was bout 15 mins. I used stop in every place that had air con. Singapore is quite expensive but if you look around you will find some good cheap places to eat. I was taken out to expensive and cheap places to eat when I was there. The good thing is in either standards are always really high. There are some nice bars etc on the oposite side of the water to the old post office building. Mind you this is financial district so drinks may be a bit expensive. One place you should try go and see is Raffles hotel. It's a really famouse building with a lot of history and is also very pleasing to look at. If the funds are up to it, do the real touristy bit and go into raffles and have a singapore sling (dont forget to throw your peanut shells on the floor of the bar if you do go in). There is also quite a famouse ZOO in singapore which is open at night and is meant to be really good. I never got there as I always seemed to be in bars at night. Be good, and keep the posts up. Al. x
