Making fire
After the Okavqango Delta we crossed into Namibia. The Delta and Chobe are really the only things to do in Botswana so we didn't spend too much time there. Our first couple nights in Namibia we bushcamped so basically we just pitched our tents along the side of the road. Apparently you aren't supposed to in Namibia but everyone does it anyway. The first night all the guys were trying to start fires and failing. Granted, some of them were trying to do it without matched, but still... So I went out there and showed them how it's done! Alaskan girls, woot! 😊 The second night we camped at a traditional village of the Ju/'Huansi-san tribe (bushmen). Going back the road to the campsite the truck got stuck and we had to dig it out. Fun times... The people here look different than in Zambia! Really wide, flat faces, more triangular shaped, not much hair anywhere. All of them just wore loin cloths, apart from the kids who didn't wear anything. In the evening we saw a traditional dance and song performance. Lots of clapping and noices all in crazy harmonies. They have their local dialect that involves all those clicking noises that you hear about. Their dancing was mostly just bum vibrating. It was insane! Didn't look like it should be humanly possible! After that a couple of us stayed up late around the fire and just talked. It's better when there's less people. More fun. Lots of big scorpions, deadly ones, so we had to be careful!

In the morning we went to their village and learned how to make bracelets, necklaces, and shoot bows and arrows. We also talked to them some about their culture. They were all really friendly and smiley even though most of them didn't speak english.

Then Etosha National Park. We did a couple game drives both Thursday and yesterday and saw a bunch of animals... gazelles, impala, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, jackals, owls, kudu, lions, and even a leopard! Thursday I saw the last of the big 5!
More about the game drives and the park when I have more time...
