Thai Adventures, part six...

Stretched in several directions in Chiang Mai

Hello again from one shattered and a little bruised lady! After another weekend in Bangkok (still love it, more shopping, visited a huge mall and went back to the market! ) We got a plane up here last Sunday to Chiang Mai. My friend, Nicky has been doing a five day cookery course this week whilst I've been studying Thai massage. I hope to add it to my repertoire on my return to England so I can inflict some pain of my own (just kidding! ) At least I now know no pain should actually be involved and all this pulling and cracking of fingers and toes are not actually necessary and not of any benefit. Think I'm going to be wary of having any more unless I see their certificate of qualification?!!
We are staying at The Jasmine Rice Resort which is about half hour outside Chiang Mai. It is really peaceful, set amongst paddy fields and has a pool for the odd morning dip. The little bungalow we are staying in is very homely and has the most amazingly comfortable beds and duvets!! Yes I am excited about the small stuff again. Home comforts make all the difference, a soft pillow that's not damp and smells of moth balls (India) a bed that's soft and not rock hard or has a plastic sheet on it (most of Thailand so far?) a soft towel and hot water (still looking!) they are so comforting. I sound like I can't rough it, I can and I have and don't mind it at all. It's just that being away for so long you miss the things you take for granted on a daily basis back home.
Anyway back to the massage I passed my course today and my theory so I am now qualified to give Thai massage so if you fancy being pulled in all directions on my return I'm your girl! No seriously it does have benefits and when in the right hands can be a really nice therapy to have. I feel like I've had a really good work out today I love the stretches, my favorite one I've put on here. I've loved the course and the school has been excellent, really professional and the tuition brilliant I couldn't fault them at all. It's reminded me how much I've missed doing massage. I've been able to do the odd Indian head massage along the way on my travels but I will look forward to giving the full massage and especially the "no hands." I'm so looking forward to pursuing that much more next year.
Next year that sounds odd!...I can't believe it'll be Christmas next month! Doesn't feel that way at all for me and I can't say I'm missing all the carols in the shops. I am missing the cold a bit though. It's weird but the change in weather makes you realise it's a new season and it's strange not having that. I have really acclimatised to the heat now though. The other night it felt a little chilly in the room as I snuggled down under my duvet and I noticed it was 24degres so nothing to complain about at all. England is going to be a shock to my system next February!!
This weekend the study continues as I am doing a Thai foot massage course. Then Nicky and I are going to Krabi further down south on Monday, so the Thai adventures continue : ) k x
