Helloooooooooooo again

So we made it all the way down Malaysia and across the connecting causeway into Singapore, and do you want to know the first thing we noticed?????? How clean this city is!!!! Not that Malaysia is dirty but more like Singapore sparkles!

Nic - The transition from Malaysia to Singapore envolved swapping buses a couple of times and a bit of a lengthy que, but other than that was nice and easy. We were nicely surprised by the city and found quite a relaxed place, smart and not too busy......but unfortunately, as we've found with all cities, they're just not for our budget!! - Great for eating out and shopping, shopping, shopping (I wish!!) but not too much else for us on a tight budget, especially coming from South East Asia....shock!!

Dan - One of the reasons we decided to hang around for a day or so was to visit the Singapore Zoo (now normally i don't like Zoo's but this place is raved about for housing the animals in a natural setting!!) PLUS the main reason to go to this Zoo was to visit the rare WHITE TIGERS!!!!! I love Tigers so to see white, blue eyed Tigers was unmissable!!

BUT I kid you not when I tell you this, When we arrived it was closed with a sign out front reading 'Emergency situation, Operations suspended'!! After a little investigation and a conversation with a shaken lady who had witnessed what had happened (so did her 3 year old daughter) we found out that unfortunately and sadly a seemingly disturbed caretaker decided to climb into the White Tigers enclosure and was mauled to death by not one but three of them, it was all over the news so i'm sure if you look it up it will have all the gory details.

Enough for now we fly to Cairns in Oz next for a rendezvous with the Great Barrier Reef....can't wait so more soon.

See ya

Eye of the tiger
Bad luck folks, so sorry. Hope Oz will have quite a few nice surprises for you. Have a great trip, look forward to hearing from you again very soon. Watch out for them crocodiles, especially the Salties. Most importantly, keep an eye of the tiger out for them big bad Great Whites when diving! They sure can creep up on you, you hear! Don't worry too much about the bugs, but them snakes are real buggars! Love from the old man.

Tigers
Bad news about the Zoo guys, although it could have been worse, just think how the poor caretaker felt! There's a programme on Sky1 at the minute called 'Lion Man' and its about this bloke who tames and bonds with all the 'big cats'. He's got Lions, Tigers, White Tigers, Cheetahs and everything there. It's called Zion Wildlife Gardens and it's in Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand - maybe worth having a look if you end up out that way. Take it easy.
