Today when we went to Streets beach we managed to get our 2 towels spread under a large tree directly out of the sun. We had slathered up in the recommended Factor 30 sunscreen.

Again it was about 30 degree’s and very warm, obviously a wind down day for the sun worshippers.

We both metaphorically dived in to our books, and I managed to finish mine.

Our existence is quite peculiar at the moment, we have a hearty breakfast, to the beach, grab some sun, have lunch, have some more sun, then go back to our hotel room to sort some stuff out.

Around 4.00pm the thunder and lightning started, followed 10 minutes later by an incredible storm, the lightning was awesome and Caroline tried to capture it on digital camera, with mediocre results, still she tried. It rained and rained, then the hotel succumbed to a power cut, fortunately we were still able to order tea on room service (although Caroline had to telephone again for it - then when they finally delivered it was on the house).

We had decided to go to the pictures tonight, to see “Burn After Reading” with Brad Pitt, George Clooney and John Malcovitch, an odd film that is well worth a view.

We sat down in the Cinema and some of the seats were wet, as to rain had leaked in, I think as the rain is in such short supply then roof leaks are such a rarity.

We came back to the hotel, and the bar was closed due to the power cut, Caroline was in need of a gin, and I a coffee so again a room service call.

The good news today is that we have secured somewhere to live in Alexandra Headland, which is slightly north of Mooloolaba, a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 weeks. (Well-done Caroline)

We have had 6 notifications from the house sitting site we have signed up for and some seem quite interesting, most of them have pets, that need looking after.

This is a section of some of the adverts.

We have a house that will be vacant over the xmas break from the 21st Dec 2008 to 3rd Jan 2009. We also have a staffy x dog and one very independant cat that will need caring for over this time. Our house is newly renovated but does not have a fence so our dog would need a walk every day. We are on a quiet street but right in the heart of west end a 5 minute walk from cafes and restaurants, local pool and cinemas and 10min drive to the city. ...more/apply

Yo travellers, Alright for some you have lovely hot weather, down on the beach checking out the talent [Andy?] probably drinking a star bucks just chilling out and we are looking out of the window to rain and wind, with jumpers on trying not to turn the heating on, FANTASTIC. Good news on finding a place to stay, you can always count on the wife finding a place, does it come with any kangaroos? Anyway got to go now some of us have to go to work now[1800hrs] and you are just having your breakfast. from Glyn and Katie One day an english bloke was driving around the backblocks of sidney one day, when he saw a little girl in the paddock next to him. With the little girl was a gigantic bull, that was preparing to gore the little girl. The pom [an englishman] took action. He slammed on the brakes of his car, jumped the barbed wire fence, grabbed the bull by it's horns, flipped it over and broke its back. An aussie reporter saw the whole thing, and after the bull was dead [ not being aware that the guy the guy was english] he rushed over to congratulate him. that was absolutly bloody fantastic mate! it'll make front page news, just give me your details, so the pom gives him his details. A day later he buys the newspaper and looks at the headline. It reads POMMY B*****D KILLS CHILDS PET!.
