We made it! We're in OZ! and its pure awesome dude. We got an overnight bus back from Ko Samui to Bangkok then spent the day hanging around the airport and got a night flight to Sydney. So we got off the plane 6am, and it was so Sunny! The first thing I noticed was how friendly everyone was. People ask you how you are doing all the time, and they're not trying to sell things!

So we got to our hostel, free shuttle service, legend. Unfortunately it was a bit of a hole and the staff didnt turn up for hours. then when we let into our extremely messy room, there was nothing to do but dump backpacks and go exploring, which we did. Got to the Opera House first thing, beautiful! And the first person we met was from Aberdeen and she went to the Harris, small world eh. A bit further along the harbour we met Jason, the Ozzie dude. Had a random chat about Oz soaps and we left with his phone number, don't think we're gonna call him though...

We spent 3 nights in Sydney, walked a lot, saw the sights, slept in Hyde Park, saw Sharks at the Aquarium, drank in Irish Bars with random folk, noseyed at Kings Cross (the red light district, nothing on Bangkok mind you!) Then we got a ferry across the harbour, simply delightful, to Manly. Got a hostel relatively quickly, and dude, its like a surfers paradise! Our room has a view of the beach and there's surfers everywhere! We got in touch with a friend of mum's and her husband and they took us to a mate's BBQ last night which was ace! Twas in the 'bush' at this huge house. Had fish eggs on bread (but it wasn't real caviar) and some low-strength beer. We scottish were the novelty for the night, our accents, particularly when swearing were well sought after. We met Bob the dog, and a guy who looks very like my Dad, and had a game of 3 on 3 tennis in their court. And they have a pool. All in all a lovely evening, great food, lovely people and an amazing view, see pics! And I held a real live snake!!!!!!!!!!!

So today we were up early for a good brekkie and a stroll along the beach, where I booked my first surf lesson. It was ace!!!! I stood up, or crouched, quite early on, but man, it's tough. My arms are now aching, and at one point I was aiming for an awesome wave but lacked the strength in my arms to pull myself up! Gutted.

So now we're off to nurse my sore muscles with a beer and some grub. And to contemplate when I will have recovered enough for my next lesson!

Love to all!!!!
