These snakes can stay poised in this position for weeks waiting for the right moment to strike. Eeech.
Nick and I travelled to the Australia Zoo today. It was about 125Km away from his house, but well worth the trip. It became apparent quite early that Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter who was tragically killed by a stingray is a national hero. The road leading to the zoo had many billboards featuring him and his family. You'll also see in the pictures that there are certain crocodile hunter features at the zoo. The zoo was incredible and Nick and I walked through the entire zoo 2 or 3 times at least. My personal favourite was the kangaroo pen where we could interact with them. They had no problem with us petting, feeding and just hanging out with them in the shade. They are so fuzzy and soft. They actually smell pretty good too. You could tell that each kangaroo had its own personality and some were actually pretty funny in the way they carried themselves. I won't talk too much about the animals because I'll be posting pictures and they are self explanatory. There are also a few extra pictures in there. Some are from Nick's backyard, some are of a spider I saw this morning near Nick's car,

This is at the entrance to the zoo. This zoo is the home of the crocodile hunter and there are pictures of him and his family everywhere. It is actually a little ridiculous how much crocodile hunter stuff the gift shop had.
some are of a meal we made. Just explore the pictures and you will be rewarded...see if you can find me cuddling with a kangaroo.

Unfortunately our fishing trip has been cancelled for tomorrow because there will be high winds and it won't be safe to be on the water. Not to worry, Nick and I are already planning a new trip. We are determined to catch exotic fish...SHARKS.

After the zoo we heading to South Bank which is on the south side of the Brisbane river. We met up with two of his friends from school who live in Australia. We had tea at this really cool shop that had a bombay feel to it...if that makes sense. Anyway, I had a Chai tea and nick had some sort of apple tea. We both enjoyed our tea. After that we walked around a bit and got slushies. A small little slushie costs $3.00. It was really good, but not worth that much.

We're not sure what we'll do tomorrow. His friend offered to drive us to the gold cost to spend the day on the beach. Doesn't sounds too bad. I'll be wearing plenty of sunscreen if we do. Australia gets really bad uv radiation. I'll post again tomorrow. Crikey!

Sweet pics
Looks like you had a great time at the zoo. So jealous that you got to hang out with the Kangaroos, I would've brought a book and just laid down in the sun with them all afternoon...and it seemed like you were the only guys there. Lots of snake pics, figures Mr. Jake the Snake. The koalas looked so peaceful, I heard they weren't as soft as everyone thinks, is it true? All in all, good choice on the zoo excursion. Do they have a seaworld, I'm sure that would be amazing....or just scuba dive in the barrier reef. Suggestion - you should name the pics and add little comments about them, us blog readers want to know your exact thoughts at the moment because we thrive on the vicarious experience. We can see what you see with the pics, but we want to know what you're thinking too! The more "in-your-perspective" thoughts and opinions the better.

Not a porcupine.
That was Echnida, it looks like a porcupine. You can pick these little guys up but you have to be careful.

Juju
Thanks for the comment Julian. Sorry I didn't write down more about the pics. I probably shouldn't have posted so many either. I will definitely try to make the pics more descriptive in the future. The kangaroos were my favourite because they were sooo soft and fun to hang out with. Koalas are pretty soft too, but they sleep between 18-20Hrs a day! Their diet consists only of Eucalyptus which is very low in energy and this is why they sleep so much. We had a lot of snake pics because Nick loves snakes. Nick snake fact: when snakes eat a meal they digest the bones of the animal because they need that calcium for their own bone growth. Without the bones from the meal, snakes could not survive.

Revised zoo pics
Thanks to Julian's comment I have sorted the zoo pics out and added comments to many of them. I hope this makes them more enjoyable.
