At home, in my house, wearing a much-liked (by me) sweater that will not make it to the 35-degrees-cold tropics. A swan song for a sweater, then.
Despite the eccentric title this is really just a trial journal. I want to see how this site works. I like it a lot. Looking at accounts of recent travel through Afghanistan and Syria, among other places, is addictive. I'm still at home. I leave for London tomorrow. Things are busy. I'm excited. I'm less worried about big things (illness, war, poultry) than about details (will I make my train connection in the U.K.? if a butcher is 5'10'', what does he weigh? (meat)).

On the road, I will either write a lot in this space or I won't. But either way, with any luck there will be lots of pretty pictures.

Well.
Thanks Jordan. I'll even bring home two wives if it makes you happy. Isn't it wonderful that Canada allows polygamy? All my other wives think so.

Bon Voyage!
My advice: On the one hand, take care of yourself. On the other hand, leave yourself open so you can experience life in more than "coffee spoons". Choose wisely. Have the time of your life.

weight of a butcher
In the UK, as we all know, if a butcher is 5'10 he weighs approximately 100 kilometres. I'm surprised you didnt research this before leaving!

lucky bastard
Have a wonderful time on your trip, and don't do anything too cautious. If you need plane reading, pick up Motorcycle Diaries...I'm reading it now and your adventure is reminding me of Che. Have fun and take care of yourself, I'll be keeping tabs on you.
