helloooooo!
It seems like ages since we uploaded a blog - and it seems that so much time has passed since Machu Picchu! We have spent the last 10 days eating and drinking copious amounts of steak, coffee and red wine in Buenos Aires, and then sunbathing and lazing around doing absolutely nothing in Praia do Forte, near Salvador in Northern Brazil. Sorry we have no videos and really no news - we have been recovering from the Inca trail in style and are now ready to begin the adventures again....!!
Well, what do we have to tell you.. Buenos Aires was not our favourite place so far - Albert liked it more than me I think... Yes, the food and wine was to die for, cheap and tasty everywhere we went, but the city itself was a little disappointing I think. Like most big cities, it had its fair share of derelict buildings, pollution and unsavoury characters, but we enjoyed wandering around the different barrios (letting the ´best restaurant´ section in the Lonely Planet book guide us around!!!) We stayed in San Telmo - a quaint little area near the centre, and home to a gorgeous and massive
antique market on a sunday. Our hotel was slightly bizarre complete with neon signs and the oldest lift (sorry, elevator) we´ve ever seen! Our bathroom was a little crazy too, with no shower cutrain, tray or anything - when you had a shower, the entire bathroom got washed too...but it was an exprience and very cheap!! Palermo was a really pretty area too, with lakes and parks and museums, and we even stretched to a little horse and carriage ride in the sunset! Caminito in Boca was also fun to see - with crazily painted buildings and houses, and people dancing Tango everywhere!! We also visited a couple of traditional coffee houses and obviously HAD to try the dolce de leche ice cream....!! On the whole, I think after 5 nights, we were ready to leave Buenos Aires in search of pure relaxation and sun-worship in Salvador. We were definitely ready to slow down for a bit and stay in one place to recharge the batteries.
Praia do Forte was the perfect place to do this - we were lucky enough to have been lent a 4-bedroom house with a pool a block from the beach!! I (Amy) mentioned
our trip in passing to a friend at work, and she told me we could stay at her Brazilian beach house - what a result, it was beautiful! We worked hard on our tans, read a lot of books, even cooked for ouselves(!) and now feel thoroughly refreshed!
We arrived in Rio de Janiero last night, and have come straight to the internet cafe, so we are now itching to get exploring - this is our last Southern American city, as next week we reach our half-way point and fly over to New Zealand! The campervan is booked, and the itinerary is almost finalised and we are so excited about the next adventure. We will upadate you on Rio before we set off!
So much love to everyone back in London and New York!!
The A´s xxxx

Hi. I live next door to the house you're staying at. I ate the left over pasta the other night from the garbage. It sure is obvious you haven't cooked in 3 months. Did you use real butter?
