Cata and I went to Cybil´s beach house for the weekend. The beach is just over an hour away by bus, and the bus is only about $3, so it makes it pretty possible to go for the weekend... and I guess my friends tend to go a fair amount in the summer too, because a few of them have beach houses. The beach house was a little sort of run down house made of cement with peeling paint. there were two bedrooms and a kitchen, and then two more bedrooms and a bathroom in another part in the back yard, quite small and very very old uncomfortable mattresses but nonetheless we all had a great time. We stayed there saturday night with about 8 friends and it was especially fun because Joaco brought his adorable new pitbull mix puppy, Aragorn!

I really enjoyed sunday... I woke up and had chocolate milk and bread (that was about the only vegetarian-friendly food kicking around) and spent a while talking with my friend Seura, as he was the only other one up... then when the others got up we had some tea and spent a while lying around and talking and joking until lunchtime. For lunch we cooked up two big pots of pasta, and i went out and bought some sauce and cheese and a few other things down the street (they´ve got these little tiny kiosk stores on a lot of street corners, and some that are slightly bigger sell food sorts of stuff... its really conveniant). So after we had lunch, us girls cleaned up and then we went down to the beach.

The beach was a little cold and kinda smelly... there was a lot of seaweed washed up. The guys wandered off and us girls took a walk out on the pier with Joaco´s puppy (who actually refused to do any walking and was carried around the whole time by Vale and me)... and got followed out by a group of guys, who lined both sides of the pier so that we couldnt leave without walking past them... and as we walked past they called out at us... one said something along the lines of that the heavens must have opened up because look at what fell from the sky... haha... such is chilean culture.

Such is life as an exchange student...
Hey Tami! I love reading your blog, it looks like you are having a great time and making the most of your exchange! And I can Really tell because your spelling has gotten worse the last couple of entries! Have you started forgetting words in English yet? It'll only be a matter of time... Liz - YFU
