Today we woke up in Washington state. Some lovely scenery with fog made for some great pictures!
I love scenes like this foggy barn.
Everett, WA was next and is the home of the U.S. Navy.
In Edmonds, WA the train skirts Puget sound for about 15 miles.
Finally we enter Seattle, WA! Seattle is nicknamed the "Emerald City" for it's easy access to pristine mountain wilderness and Puget Sound.
Took a cab to the Mayflower Park Hotel and settled in. This is a nice hotel located right in the dowtown area close to shopping and the famous Pike Marketplace. It's only noontime by time we check in so there is plenty of time for sightseeing.
This place is very interesting!
This fish stand was unbelieveable with these guys flinging huge fish and crabs around hollering all the while!
It was a beautiful sunny day here in Seattle today; very unlike what we expected to find. I did hear people talking that this last week and a half of nice sunny weather is the only "summer" that they had gotten! No thanks....I'll stick with Miami!
In the evening we had an invitation to dine at the house of a former Miami geocacher. He and his family live in West Seattle with a lovely view of the city and numerous mountains. We were picked up at our hotel by the traveling team of
Marc and Eliana in their antique VW bus "Valentina". They have put over 12,000 miles on her from Miami to Alaska and now Seattle!
We had a wonderful Indian meal, some scenery peeping and good conversation then it was time to head back to the hotel. We have an early morning tomorrow!
Thanks Ted, it was a great meal! Also, thanks to Valentina and company for the ride! It was really good to see everyone.
