Uncle Hector
Uncle Hector at Rest and be Thankful. We took a weekend trip, and by we I mean, Granma, Uncle Hector, Aunty Rina, Eddy and me, up north to Wick.
We drove up the western coast for a more scenic and slower trip (took about 10 hours), through Oban, Fort William, Fort Augustus and a place which I love the sound of the name but cant remember how to spell....its near to Loch Ness.
The scenery was absolutely spectacular. Everyone always makes these comparisons between the scottish highlands and new zealand - I'd agree that some of the scenery is similar but I think its on a grander scale in Scotland and its ALOT greener.
Once we got to Wick we went further north still and had a day trip to John O'Groats. The weather was perfect so we stopped and sat outside on a bench for some chocolate. We could see the Orkney Islands and a fuel burn off from one of the oil riggs...
the trip back was a bit quicker - we whipped down the east coast and it took about 5 hours. Past Stirling etc.
Will definately be going back.
