After Arslanbob we headed to Osh. We had time there to have a look around. We went up King Soloman's mountain and just generally took in the city. Osh is Kyrgyzstan's second largest city. It was a lot prettier than Bishkek and I enjoyed kicking around. The weather also has turned warm again as we are starting to head towards Uzbekistan.

The border crossing was relatively pain free - it was only about 2hrs ... which was a lot better than the Chinese border. We made our way into Fergana for one night and now we are in the capital of Uzbekistan - Tashkent. We were not able to take the truck through the section of road between Fergana and Tashkent. The official line is that a tourist bus crashed a couple of years ago and they don't want big buses on the road. There was a heavy military presence through that section of road so I have a feeling it is also to do with protecting that road. We caught taxis for the 4hr journey to Tashkent from Kokand after visiting the Sultanate's palace there. I have travelled along Indaian and Pakistani roads so it was quite a straight forward journey for me (comfy to be in a taxi) but some of the others in the group did not like having the driving control and ended up in Tashkent quite frazzled. (you can probably guess who - Lynn, Caroline, Lucy and Anna!)

I am sitting in an internet cafe right on a busy intersection - a few minutes ago we just watched a Lada do a complete flip ... oops (the driver was OK) Tomorrow we head for 3 days in Samarkand... yay I'm excited!
