Hey everyone,
Sorry about that really short message we wrote the other day. Time was short but we wanted to check in! Figured the photos would speak for themselves 😊 Thank you for all the messages people have sent. It's fab here but still really nice to hear from you 😊 And good to know that people are actually reading all this!

Well, one week in, we're having an amazing time. It's certainly an adventure...and def not a holiday! Last week we climbed three mountains and yesterday, we climbed a Glacier! It was simply amazing. The whole grp went on a guided tour complete with crampons for our boots. It was like being on top of the world with all the white ice and blue skies (first really sunny day so far - fab timing!) I kept expecting to see a penguin toddle past me or something. We filled out water bottle with fresh glacier water which really is the best water we've ever tasted.

There are 13 of us in the trek group and we have a very cool, chilled out guide called Ricki. The ages range form 21 to 30 with just 2 people older than that. Camping has been great fun so far. It's so nice to be so close to the wildlife- chipmunks and squirrels everywhere. Real 'twit-a-woo' owls at night and the other day a HUGE Elk wandered through our campsite! Madness. We have also seen some Moose and both of us have spotted a bear. Christian saw an adult one..I saw a bear cub but it was so brief I would have believed you it you'd told me it was a very large dog! If the driver hadn't stopped the van to watch too, I wouldn't have believed it. Each and everyone of us is desperate to catch a real view of one-kinda close up but not too close! We have two weeks left so fingers crossed.

Much to my delight, we have had a campfire every night. Kind of essential due to the time of year. It's very, very cold at night- whose idea was it to camp again!? The day temp is about 10-15c which is fine but the night temp generally drops to zero and below zero. Tonight it"s going to be about minus 4. Have been wearing almost every item of clothing I have have with me...and still end up cold! Christian deals with it better than me but will still happily admit that it's not exactly warm! My trusty red Sigg metal water bottle has become a VERY close friend. Not only does it keep water cool to drink during the day but it adapts brilliantly to become a hot water bottle overnight! A godsend.

Last week, I went Paragliding and white-water rafting both for the first time. The rafting was good - something I'd always been scared of doing, whereas the thought of Paragliding was just exhilarating and as close as I will get to sky diving on our budget. Oddly, I wasn't scared of running off a cliff for Paragliding....but was simply terrified of falling off a raft into the freezing cold 'Kicking Horse' river! Esp after the safety talk telling us all the dangers of falling in.... anyway, luckily, no one on my raft fell in. I would Pargaglide again tomorrow..and the next day and the next day if I didn't have to pay every time! The guys that run the company have a pretty cool job!

Food has been DELICIOUS. We must all be very good cooks! 😉 Either that or we're all so hungry and cold by the end of the day that ANYthing tastes good! There is a rota system for washing up, cooking etc so we all have a turn. Today, it"s my turn. We're doing a good old stew.
Thats all for now guys. Keep messaging 😊 More photos to come....
