Not sweating for once!!!

we arrived in Dalat after a long pain in the a** bus ride from Nha Trang. The open bus tour is a real scam (at least to us). It took seven hours to drive around 215 kms and stopped numerous times to get our money at obvious cash sharing places. We did the thing we always do, and gave them nothing out of spight!!!

We arrived in Dalat to a great change of pace and temperature. It is very comfortable here regarding the heat, although we had rain almost the entire second day. Of course, the rain would come while we rented a moto and went to the waterfalls. It was fine once you accepted being wet and was even refreshing at times.

Jodi is getting used to the bike tours, which is a good thing because we leave tommorrow morning on a bike trip with the Easy Riders all the way to Ho Chi Minh city. This trip will take us to places that are off the tourist line and should take about 4 days. It will be nice to see actual villages, countryside and people. We were kind of unsure about doing this, as it is a bit expensive, but in the end we wanted this trip to be eye opening and not just stop at one tousist saturated city to the next. We are going to find out if this is what we wanted!

We rented a moto from our hotel (Dreams 1) for about 6 dollars and we had a great day travelling the surrounding city looking to find the Pagoda's, Temples and Waterfalls that are listed in all the guidebooks. At times we got a little lost because the books only give you a sparce map of the inner city and just list items as being 5-15 kms away in a particular direction. We stopped and asked people directions and they were very eager to help, and extremely kind. The language barrier is somewhat present away from the tourist places but in the end we saw pretty much what we wanted to in the beginning.

I even convinced Jodi to take the Luge/rollercoaster to the bottom of the Datanla waterfall! She was happy at the start untill at the end point we got bumped from behind by some other tourists travelling too fast. She got over it though as it was very beautiful and different from the usual Temple visits. The sky opened up all of a sudden and the torrential rains came down. We finally got back to town and met a nice couple from Ireland who have sold me (Dan) on doing my PADI course in KoTao, Thailand!.....now all that's left is getting Jodi into water with a possible shark present..........I'll keep you posted.
