Oh man has it only been a week? It feels like ages.

Now let me see... Last Monday we woke up early and packed all of our stuff up into Uncle John's car, destination: Whistler. We took an easy drive up, stopping for lunch and siteseeing, and it was snowing, still a novelty for us!

The arrival wasn't so exciting. We were too early for staff housing office hours (4pm - 6pm, what kind of "office hours" are those?) and the housing didn't exactly impress. Though the village and the mountains did. And despite our cramped quarters (think queen bed in a 3m x 3m room) we were happy to finally be at our destination.

Week 1 at Whistler was filled with orientation, meeting new friends, sampling the local nightlife and starting our new jobs! Just in case you hadn't asked, Micah is a Banquet Server and I am am waitress/barrista in a Restaurant for the Fairmont Chateau Whistler (photo below). Its a huge upmarket hotel here, so they are really quite good to thier staff and provide heaps of training etc etc.

All in all we were homesick, but settling in and having fun. Photos of nights out to follow in the next blog ...when we can afford to get our photos developed :P

xxx take care all

Don't drop anything
Hey Liza Glad to hear you guys are settling in. I'm sure you'll do great at the waitressing - you can't be any worse than me. When I was at the Hyatt in Melbourne I broke many a glass and was told to only fold napkins - now that's bad! Have fun and Merry Christmas young lady! Tals.
