Last weekend, we had our first visitors, Ann and Tom, from England. We had a night out in Christchurch (after going to see Lenny Henry at the Town Hall) and then on Saturday drove up to Akaroa for the weekend. We managed to get a good walk in before Sunday, when it started raining and didn't really stop all week. New Zealand has been hit with some pretty bad storms and there have been states of emergency declared in several areas. This weekend, we weren't really expecting the rain to stop, but it did and the sun came out, so we headed out to the east coast of the city to the seaside suburb of New Brighton with it's Saturday market, 300m Pier, sand dunes walkway and abdundance of Shags on the beach.

Lenny Henry?
I don't know, you emigrate and still can't escape Lenny Henry. It was Lenny Henry that gave me the inspiration to get into stand-up. I saw Lenny Henry and had a revelation - you don't have to be funny to do stand-up! I dig the new ornathological bent to the blog - my advice to you is "keep on shaggin' kids"...
