SunsetFinal Day
Well it's good bye to my favorite place in Europe, Ericeira. What makes this place my favorite well it's the surf, sun and most of all the people. Northern Portugal is fortunately for the locals but unfortunately for the economy a little forgotten gem in Europe. It has some of the best coast line, few tourists (or at least less) and generally has only the committed tourists rather than the package types. Debs checked into surf school in Ribeira d'llhas.. (see or if you don't speak Portuguese, ) and we met the coolest people from Joy her teacher to Dan, Eduardo and the Spanish crew fellow students, Alex (German), Lars and Nina, Ryan and many others. The locals, Joy, Pizza Guys Jan and Pete (, Great Pizza Guys!), Lulu, Andre, Alex, Tanita, Zoe, etc are all friendly chilled people with the right balance on life.. that is beach culture. I guess I've found my place and what I've been missing.. I only hope NZ has the same vibe that this place has. Here are some photo's of our favorite people.

Debs is now the proud owner of a 7"3 blue surf board, wetsuit and booties. She is also capable

of getting tumbled by a 4 foot set and then coming back for more. We had a great night out at a bar called Bar Zinho which turned 20 years old we went with the crew although Lars and Nina went to bed early! Got to bed at 4am in the morning after a wild night and didn't even feel too bad in the morning. Then we went with Joy and Alex (German Alex) to our favorite restaurant Prim which is a Brazilian restaurant that serves some of the best food around. Seriously comparable to any of the places I've eaten in London (bar maybe the Fat Duck). We had this delicious light milk cheese on bread to start with Portuguese ham that falls apart in your mouth. Then Debs had burger patties with garlic sauce with herbs and flavour that knock the socks of anything. I had cuts of "Barrosa" beef with sauteed fries and creamed spinach. Seriously this place is good. Debbie is still salivating thinking about it.

Oh got some good sets on my last day.. 4 foot wind blown with chop but still some great rides.. got to love surfing.. If you come to
