Si Phan Don Det
Which literally translates as The Four Thousand Islands - which are a bunch of islands in the middle of the Mekong river some 300km south of Vang Vieng. We got ourselves a cool bungalow with river views and hammocks and hung around for 3 days. These islands are extremely basic they only have generator power between the hours of 6 and 9. And there was literally nothing to do but think. This was the first time Nibby and I felt a little home sick
One night trying to go to sleep I moved my arm to find it got bitten on my hand I jumped up and then bitten again on my knee much to our surprise there was a scorpion on the bed needless to say we shoed it to death, bottled it, and crapped our pants thinking fuck that could be really bad!!!! It was late and our Bungalow owners where in bed so after a short while of polite knocking on the door and then a little harder we woke them they saw the pictures on the camera and looked worried when we shook the actual Scorpion onto the floor and they gave

Sunset from our terrace me a cream and let me go back to bed!!! The panic was over but WOW were we worried.

After we left here we headed in Cambodia via those absolutely horrid things called VIP Minivans. Numerous changes and extreme over crowdedness for 12 hours (and one of the guys was getting travel sick so we kept having to pull over for him to vom!). But had a great laugh with an Auzzie Couple Mal & Karyll at a bunch of snooty French tourists who were giving the locals so much jip for anything they could think off. So then we arrived in Phnom Penh (capital of Cambodia).

Love reading all your journey news. We're on our way now, just spent 1st day in New York. Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) fantastic. You must go there if you come home this way. Looking forward to meeting up with you both. Hope no more scorpions or similar. Take care, Janet-Mum
