The plane trip
At first on the plane I was nervous as we took off. Sarah and I were together though, separated from the rest of the group which was hard. I watched 2 movies then tried to get some sleep. Michael and Chez came and visited us a few times. After awhile Sarah was feeling unwell so she went and spent a while with the others. We were fed braised beef or chicken, I choose beef. We got off at Singapore and wandered around the airport for a while and found that the front zip on my snowgum bag had broken and tried to fix it. I couldn’t fix it so I just took everything out of that pocket that could have fallen out and cept going. Eventually we sat outside the gate which our plane was in and just wandered in and out of the shops 2 or three at a time. We started boarding and went through security and had our tickets checked. We were waiting in a departure area when we were told that the planes air-conditioning was broken and that we had to wait while it was fixed. We were given water while waiting. It ended up being about a 30 min delay. However when we got on the plane and ended up taxing around the airport for 10 more mins. Go figure…..

The flight from Singapore to London was tiring. I tried to sleep as much as possible and ended up sleeping three times. When we reached London we had to wait be cause there had been a medical emergency on the flight and they had to get parmedics on before anyone could leave the plane. So we rushed to our connecting flight and found that it wasn’t leaving for ten minutes so we had the chance to catch our breath. Flight took around an hour and a half to Copenhagen.

I arrived after a long flight. I was picked up by jack’s host Mum Suzan and had a great time talking along the way I found out the lollies we had given everyone at our first exchange meeting were actually Danish liquorish. We took the ferry from Sealand to Jutland and had Danish buffet sandwiches for lunch. She wouldn’t let me pay for lunch but I thanked her for the meal in Danish and she was both very surprised and happy. She said that you generally don’t notice if people say it but if you don’t say it is though something is missing. I arrived around 4 :30 Danish time. Ann, Jens and Karin were there to meet me and it was lovely to finally see them. I thanked Susan for the lift (in Danish). Kathrine wasn’t home yet as she was still at singing practice but I talked with Karin and Jens and they showed me my room. It is lovely and they have gone to trouble to make sure I felt at home with some Australian themed art and little knickknacks. I went with my host parents to pick up Kathrine and we went grocery shopping which was interesting with the labels different and stuff. I noted that coca cola and Pantene are the same in any country. We had bread-crumbed pork cutlet thingys, potatoes, carrots, and sweet corn. It was yum. Karin’s dad also came for dinner as he lives not far away. For desert we had pancakes which were like crepes with ice cream inside with icing sugar dusted on the top. It was delicious and I am told it is the Danish way to eat pancakes. I found out Ann loves wombats. I helped load the dish washer then had a shower and spoke to my host parents about tomorrow…
