GnomeeGnomeeGnomee

My new travel buddy
Even though I drugged myself, I slept only 3 of the 7 hours on the flight from Boston to Paris. The woman in front of me didn't help, as her reclining seat was nearly in my lap. My only saving grace was that I got to screw the guy behind me with my reclined seat. Taxi'd to the hotel and checked in. Turns out, the hotel is very nice. At this time I'd like to give a shout out to everyone over at Hilton Honors for setting me up here. Hilton Arc de Triomphe rocks....wifi in the lobby (the French pronounce it weefee....weirdo's) good restaurant, excellent staff, very posh room with all the trimmings. After breakfast I took a long hot shower before a nice big nap. Unfortunately, when I awoke I tried the voice over internet thing and it worked. So I was stuck in front of the computer for a couple of hours working. Oh well, it was a good day to stay in anyhow. The concierge recommended a restaurant within walking distance. It was shwanky little place the size of a Subway restaurant but about as cool as the Rolling Stones in their mid 40's. Again, very smart, posh, and turns out...expensive. I let the waiter order since I hadn't a clue what the menu said. Turns out I had some kind of raw meat salad dish, along with Fillet Mignon and potato's, then chocolate cake for desert. I have to say, it was pretty darn good, I don't care who you are. Bill came to 75 Euro's before tip...so what's that??.... ALOT.
Though it's only been a day, this Paris place is pretty nice. Thus far the people have been very gracious in seeing to it I'm comfortable. There is a sense of refinement here....from the way everyone dresses, their mannerisms, and the advertisment. I'm getting the feeling they live well, eat well, dress well, and smoke alot. Lot's of smokers. Add the french accent to the smoker voice and these are some very sexy sounding people.
I've got to give another shout out to the lovely Jennifer for taking me to the airport yesterday morning. We left at about 5:30am, so I owe her for that one. Thank you. She also snuck a Traveling Gnome in my suitcase so I wouldn't get lonely on the trip. So far he's been rather quiet but I'm not complaining, as we're still getting to know each other. I've enclosed a picture of him to illustrate....he's a poser.
And of course, I can't forget Tina for holding down the fort for me while I'm away. I really appreciate all your hard work. Thank you!
Tomorrow I guess I'll do some site seeing and take some pictures. Until then....Bonsoir
