Today we got up and decided to go downtown to the famous Avenida Corrientes(famous for its shopping) and nearby to do some shopping and sightseeing. We first had to find a place to exchange some traveler’s cheque. Which mind you by this stage all I can really say is that unlike anywhere else in the world for some reason (I’m guessing the 2001 recession problem in Argentina had a lot to do with this) in order to exchange any type of money in the bank you need to carry some type of documents and for traveler’s cheque you have to be 21 at least and you can only really get it done at all these really(and I’m talking about 100%) Americanised hotels and banks which are downtown and charge a shit load of commission. In saying that mind you, Argentina from what Maradona once said and was so disillusion with his country: “I’m Argentinian, but I don’t know if I’m really in my country”. Which I must admit, at times apart from the rich architectural buildings, Buenos Aires has really allowed themselves to be Americanised to the point that I’m starting to see for myself why the rest of South American have a Consensus that they see themselves as Snobs and Posh wannabe Europeans.

Unlike my time in Mexico, where it was so close to the U.S yet everyone on the streets from grandamas to lawyers all had a strong vocal opinion about the U.S.A. However here, except for the outer areas and supposedly la Boca(which I’m yet but dying to discover) really embrace the U.S culture with open arms and that has disappointed me in a way.

But enough mourning and on with the show…Shopping was so crazy at Ave Corrientes, Ave Sante Fe and Ave Florida, which started with me buying a pair of jeans at Zara first, during the day and after that it was just so addictive, I decided to go out that night by myself and just went on what I like to call a “shopping run” and basically I ended up buying some cool pair of adidas shoes for around $35aud and also a really nice hooded jacket for around the 30aud price….Overall the day was awesome and seeing the Obelisco at 9 de Julio, was just the bomb!!!
