Bladon Chains to Oxford to Cheltenham Racecourse

NOTE WE ARE NOW IN CHEPSTOW WALES We have problems a few photos so they maybe out of order

Monday, June 16
The only Winnebago Dealer in Europe, Dudleys in Ducklington is our stop today. Chris, our contact, was most helpful and ready to fix the wounded "Bothan". While work was being done on the vehicle, we got a ride into Witney for a walk... in the rain.
The RV is all fixed....and would you believe... less than 1/2 mile from"home" on yet another narrow road... a "Lorry" barreled past us and smashed the outside mirror...passenger side!
Success was short lived, we now have a date with the Mercedes Benz dealer tomorrow to get the mirror repaired. Think car repairs are expensive in the States? The Brits win again, hands down! Of course the mirrors are essential.

Well, the parts are on order, so we take the bus to Oxford for the day. We walked around Oxford and through the grounds of Christ Chapel. Oxford brings thoughts of our friend, Mike, who got his doctorate here and then some. We visited the church of St. Mary the Virgin. There are many colleges connected with Oxford and this week was exam week. The tradition is... the students wear formal garb for exams and a carnation (red, pink, and white) to indicate at the level of the student. The Radcliff Camera is a library that was erected by a rich contributor.

Back to Mercedes Benz and then onto Cheltenham. This is the English Cotswold's and quite lovely.
We gather information on hikes of the Cotswold's Way, and after dinner do our homework to plan buses to the trail head, etc and gather our hiking gear.
Our campground is on the Racecourse. It seems Cheltenham means racing in this area. It is a steeplechase course, used only in winter. So they make used of it the racecourse the rest of the year, as a campground.
