just arrived on the small island of ko tao off the southern gulf of thailand. got the train from bangkok yesterday, somehow traveling 500km through thailand costs half the price of a train to newbridge. traveled by boat through the night and arrived here at 5.00 in the morning. got a little bungalow about a minute from the sea. we've just eaten breakfast and are ready to sit in the sun for the first time on our holidays. bangkok was a strange place, it poured rain alot of the time and with the tuk tuk drivers whizzing about it seemed like we were on the set of blade runner sometimes. the air pollution was getting a bit too much so we had to flee to the country-side. we're off now to explore the island.

longest day of the year
Hi there Hope the bungalow on the beach is going well for you after the big city. Are there many people there? Is there a nightlife or is it more of a wind down, get away from it all kinda spot? I suppose you've heard the big news...Aideen passed her driving test. Yes, in a show of true grit and determination she did it for the fourth time and passed. I reckon everyone should do it pregnant! Our weekends are getting booked up quickly - we're off to dicey reilly's tonight, cos it has a big beer garden and it will be bright till about 10, next weekend is Morrissey and the Dubs (that's Steven Morrissey, not Marty!) and then Enniscrone the weekend after that. And in the meantime there are sports days school tours and end of year partys a going. It's all good. The weather is crap today - Conor was due to play a hurling match in Kilbarrack and myself and Róisín were going to go and see it cos it is the last match of the season but it was called off because it's just been raining constantly. Not sure what the long term forecast is but maybe May was as good as it gets for us this year. Clare has booked her flights to Kerry to hook with the crew in Dingle and it looks like herself and Paul will be joining us mid-week in Enniscrone. We'll have Stephen, Charlotte and Rory on the Saturday night and Pearse will be making his usual appearance so there'll be plenty going on. Maybe just as well - long afternoon games of trivial pursuit might be where it's at! Enjoy Ko Tao Fiona
