well hello one and all - we made it to Bangkok and have just returned to our hostel after a wee wander around and some food. Stalls lining every street selling food a- going to let my wee stomach adjust before I go there though...we were very sensible and ate from a clean restaurant! Delightful after the absolute muck we were given on the plane.

Bangkok itself looks like what I imagine Tokyo to be like - skyscrapers and neon everywhere - no bins but clean streets, mental traffic in particular the tuk tuks which have engines that sound like a farting robot. And I think we all know how that sounds. Cigarette packets have pictures of people dying in hospital beds on them. Nice. Bottles of water cost 14c. Nicer. We haven't ventured into ladyboy territory yet but no doubt we will.
Our hostel is great - basic room with balcony and 2, count em, 2 fans. Pool and restaurant , free interweb and bar. Sound buzz.

Lots of dogs lying asleep around the place - I nearly stepped on several already but have no rabid bites to report. Paul is currently conked out upstairs in our room with the fan whipping his curls - I managed a few hours on the flight so am gonna have a couple of beers and watch the match - nothing much to report yet - will do a sightseeing day tomorrow and hopefully head for the islands on Tuesday.

Until then, over and out.
