Today was the Friday wine raffle again. As the winner of last week, I was in charge of picking out the wine for this week. I went down to the store in town yesterday and bought two bottles of California red wine. I didn’t have much selection from the United States, but figured I should represent my country. I entered the raffle again this week for fun. Guess I’m on a bit of a lucky streak because I won again. Kenneth one of the other professors brought in Finish Vodka to add to my wine selection. I won the vodka. He said he would be interested to see how I was feeling on Monday. I am again in charge of getting the wine for the raffle. Maybe I will find some Italian wine. I’m thinking I better not enter next week, otherwise they may think I’m cheating.

It has been raining this week. Not too much, but enough to get you wet on the way to work. Everything smells fresh and new so that is a plus. I went with Stephi last night to have dinner at her friend Lars’s house. I met him at the barbecue the other week. We had some sort of white fish and vegetables with a cream sauce. The fish was pretty good. I think I’m starting to get used to eating fish. Wow that’s a phrase I never thought would be uttered from my mouth. We also watched the football match between Germany and Croatia. It was nice to get out and spend some time with people. At times the dorm gets a bit lonely because everyone is finishing exams and heading home. The students have been working on exams the entire time I have been here. Personally, I think that is entirely too long to have exams. I will no longer complain about having to wait a week to take my final.

Tonight I’m having dinner with a few people from the department and a few researchers from the UK. Apparently we are going somewhere that I can order Norwegian food. I will let you know how it is.

Ha det, Allison
