No, I'm not wearing a green apron

Sssshhhh! Got to whisper....I'm at work!

Yup, working again after three months off. Despite the time off, I'm still having to stop myself from answering the phone with "Prospective Students' Centre, Danielle speaking". Brainwashed or what?

It's Thursday afternoon, about 4.45pm and I technically have to work until 5.30pm. But I have nothing to do. Done it all. My theories about HR have been confirmed. They are so not as busy as PSAC! But I digress, this is a travel blog...

Things that are different about working in London -

- Travelling -
I have to jam myself onto the train in the morning. Literally. Once I make it to the station. Yesterday I just took the plunge and crammed myself in, hoping to God that the doors wouldn't slam on my ass. Or my head for that matter. Unlike home, where I simply jump in the car and drive for 10-15 minutes, all the while listening to Triple J (missing that), singing along to the radio and generally obsessing about whatever I have on that day. Here, it's cram myself onto the train and then wait out the hour-ish ride, either reading the Metro that someone has kindly left behind, attempting to not read the Metro that the person smooshed up against me is reading, or listening to the ipod. Ironically, the stop after I get on, heaps of people pile off, so I can generally get a seat, or at least fully inflate my lungs because the door, window, shoulder, elbow or handbag that was physically preventing me from breathing has now moved out of my cardiovascular space.

That's about it. Everything else is pretty much the same. I have been pretty lucky, the job I've been doing means I'm pretty independent and just get on with it. And being organised means that I've done pretty much everything I can do.

Because I'm working for Starbucks, there is coffee galore. Which, for a tea lover, I am coping quite well with. I attempted to have a tea today but it was so bloody awful I went straight back to coffee. The good kind though, no instant crap. Soy latte for me! Yummo. Dehydration is catching up on me though. They even have cleaning staff, this guy that basically just cleans up all the coffee cups etc, an office with a dish pig, it's not too bad! Although, I feel bad every time I go in there to take in my cup - I don't even have to do that, someone will even come around and get them for cleaning if you let them.

The office itself is all brand new, in a new flash industrial park - Chiswick Park. Check it out online - http://www.enjoy-work.com/html/theidea.html
This is pretty cool in itself, with reception offering free rugs if you want to lunch on the lawn, umbrellas if it's raining and all sorts of events - yesterday they were all these sports going on and tomorrow there is a twin bungee - crazy stuff.

Anyway, in terms of the travelling, I'm plotting at the weekend my next step - Turkey, Spain for a language course, or maybe even a yoga holiday in Morrocco. Not sure what will happen first but I will, of course, keep you in the loop. And, I also have another job interview so fingers crossed - in Catnerbury, near the fam! hurrah!

Gotta go, the boss is lurking (well, not really, but got to keep the effect up!).
Happy birthday to those birthday peeps celebrating next week.

Next time -
Newspaper comparisons, more family adventures, work updates and shopping in camden. mwah!
