1: Driving through a tree 52 secs
From davis we drove up to the northwest corner of california for the redwood national forest. After being in the car for hours we stopped at a scenic black beach to get out some of our energy.. Leigh's excitement overtook her and she did not stay on her feet for long as she tried to run down the rocks to the beach.

After a bit we finished our drive to our hostel to check in. It was very hippie-commune-esque, in a slightly frightening way. With only a few hours of daylight left we headed to the mouth of the klamath river (just a couple miles south of our hostel) to do some whale watching (it's apparently one of the top spots... ever?). We didn't see any whales, but we saw an aweful lot of black rocks that looked sort of like whales. Works for me.

From here we grabbed an extremely unorganic dinner from the diviest bar we could find (perhaps a strip club? we can't seem to avoid those..), and headed back to our hostel to relax.

The next day we did a hike through some great redwoods.. pictures featured below!

After this we began our trek to portland...
