Only two days before we went to Bali, our plans changed and we decided to stay for a week.......and we are so glad we did, what a fantastic place!!!. Bali is renowned for its surf and beautiful beaches, which stretch as far as the eye can see and are gorgeous. We found a nice, well run, cheap (obviously) hotel with pool right in the centre of Kuta the main lively area. We hired a moped out for a few days and headed out on the manic roads to Ubud. After literally a few minutes of starting out we were pulled over by the coppers (obviously after making a quick buck!!) a quick flash of our license though and we were on our way. Ubud was about 45 km inland, it was full of beautiful arts and crafts and the place was very picturesque with its tradional stone temples and carvings everywhere. We visited a monkey forest temple, which was named after the mischievous macaque monkeys which inhabited it.
For such a touristy place the prices here were unbelievably cheap and the quality of the food was fantastic, and we enjoyed its amazing nightlife.........Bali is a definate on our "places to
come back to" list. The nightlife was a mixture of live bands, clubs and chilled out bars along the beach front, you can even buy beer from the local "offy" and sit looking over the beach listening to the tunes that they provided, this was obviously where we spent our time as it was cheap ha ha!!!
Other than that we chilled and walked around the streets and beaches trying to avoid the local shop owners and beach sellers, who got quite annoying after a few days. We also tried our hand at surfing, which was good fun but after nearly drowning a few times and few near misses of getting smacked by the surfboard we gave it up........I think we will stick to things that have an engine as they are a bit more predictable.......sometimes!!
After a 12 hour delay, which the airline kindly put us up in a 5 star hotel overnight........very nice.......and then an overnight stop in Melbourne Australia, again provided by the airline, we set off to Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand to check in to our new accomodation .......a campervan of love........named Maus. Wait till you see the piccies haha.....Dan

Hay you too still enjoying it i see!! cant believe youve been surfing in Bali!! the wipeouts are all part of the fun! the bigger the wipeout the more fun your havin!! thats what i tell myself anyway!! took Sue surfin a while back she got wiped out straight away so shes never been back in!! Dan have you got a long lost Twin cus he was on my course last week! well wierd!! anyway Enjoy!! take it easy!!
