We arrived in San Francisco to our hostel in the evening. They had overbooked so we got upgraded (?) to the old hotel down the street which was owned by the same people. After conquering our tower of terror style elevator (imagine manual glass door, gate, and buttons which rarely took you to the floor you selected), we headed to our room to get ready for the night.

We met up with our friend Pete, a friend from Fredericksburg, who acted as our tour guide for the majority of the weekend. We headed to the haight-ashbury district where we went to a few different bars, ending at elbo room which showed a risqué 70s finnish film on a jumbo screen. This particular plot included a female detective with a camera implanted in one breast, gun in the other. She was deadly.

On a late-night jack in the box run, Kathy and Blair began to believe a homeless woman was following them. Blair decided it was a good idea to run from her, resulting in the loss of her digital camera which she had tucked in the pocket of her hoodie. in retrospect, the homeless woman was probably less of a threat than initially thought.

The next day we did some sightseeing: exploring china-town, fisherman's wharf, the golden gate park, and ended at a street fair/party going on in union street. Afterwards we headed to Oakland to have dinner with kathy's relatives.

Later that night, wanting to celebrate June 1st (the first day of gay pride month), we went with Pete to Castro street to a gay club called The Bar. After an initial 5-minute feeling of being out of place, we were quickly acclimated and danced the night away with the gays.. (also picking the few straight guys out of the crowd).

After one of our favorite nights of the trip, we headed home to rest up for the next day in NAPA!!.....

San Francisco and Bay Area
You all look better fed in San Francisco with all that dimsum and egg roll in Chinatown. I am relieved! You all look great with Christopher and Jasmine. Kathy, you are East and West - with families in the East and West coast. Sorry about the camera loss, Nikki.
