I know that the people reading this blog will prefer brevity, plus I don´t really have the time, so I will simply attach and explain the photos from each major event on our trip.

The first stop on our global jaunt was Santiago the capital of Chile which was very cold and wet. We stayed in a province called ´Barrio Brasil´ just east of the city centre in the ´Happy House´ hostel; the first photo is the veiw from our room which looks over the delapidated housing development that typifies most of Santiago, out over one of the numerous catholic churches and towards the Andes mountain range. The terrain is undulating and from what I can tell Santiago lies in a large plain almost completely surrounded by mountain ranges. On the drive from the ´auropeurto´ to the hostel I was amazed to see vast areas of low socio-economic, high density residential areas, ´slums´, I guess, for lack of a better word stretching from the highway to the mountain rainges. We met some very freindly Americans on our first night and we all went out to dinner at the ´Las Vardes Gordes´, I ordered ´brochetta mixta´ which was very large pieces of assorted meat on a skewer. After suffering some chronic jetlag, it was nice to have some good food and company to ease us into our journey - an enjoyable first night.

Ciao....

That picture of the church spire almost looks like painting. Good to see you are taking pictures of food! More of those pictures please.
