The play script and an early version of the proposed play bill
New Zealand has a Play Bureau that stores and distributes scripts for productions throught the country. You can see their stamp at the bottom of the script. Pencil marks are allowed but must be earased before returning. I've made a new inroad into the theater community in Auckland. In addition to my voicework and acting class I'm now working on weekends assisting a stage production prepare for a show in late July. Most of my work backstage including props, costume and my favorite - lighting. I'll assist the lighting crew set up the lights and programme the lighting board. On the nights of the show I'll be in the production room behind the audience running lights and passing along communication from the producer to the stage manager. Sweet....
The tilte of the production is The Boyfriend, by Sandy Wilson.
It is set in France at Madame Dubonnet’s Finishing School near Nice. The time is 1926 and the cast will be dancing the Charleston to their hearts content. The show has many easy to listen to and easy to sing songs, reminiscent of the 20’s.
Pretty interesting hobby and I find when working on a show your gratification comes not from your work but the results of your work - the satisfaction and entertainment of the audience.
Perhaps I’ll be doing more of this in the future. I do know between work, this and few
Script
The script must be nearly 30 years old and has been used by different production companies throughout the islands. The pages are yellowed and smell musty like a historied bookshop. I love it. other pursuits there just isn’t much time….
For those of you in the know, I delivered the final report on the Devonport Library site selection today. That was satisfying.

Twsenty Three Sidoo!
Sure wish that I could attend this presentation. I have always loved the Roaring Twenties, its music, styles, culture and of course the 1920's automobiles, hence my 1925 Chrysler that you saw when you were here. You are enjoying a great life with great people in NZ and wow, the parties at your place must be a ton of fun! The mornings after, do you ever scratch your head about 3 feet out from your nose? Hee He! Jim Lesniak
