This may be a bit dark, but they had an awesome slide at Tivoli Gardens! Yesterday we left a sunny Amsterdam behind us and flew to a sunnier Copenhagen! I got sunburnt on the plane, but that is nothing out of the ordinary... weather was gorgeous and i was wandering around all day in a singlet and jeans... less than i wore through the Aussie Summer i think!
As soon as we got here our first stop was information to get a map and find out what's what in Copenhagen... the free map we picked up had a self guided walking tour in it that covered most of our must-see list and whilst it estimated 3 hours we braved it anyway!
Grabbed ice cream on the way so we could have Copenhagen icecream from a Copenhagen icecreamery, and ventured pretty much all over the city.... We visited Hans Christian Anderson and took photos in amongst Japanese tourists... actually that was kinda funny cos they all wanted to climb up... most failed... checked out their City Hall... puts our little Town Hall to shame that's for sure! Went down to the main canal docks which was an old fishing town and watched all sorts of street theatre, then wandered through a trash and treasure market
which reminded me of Grandma's display cupboards hehehe...
Finally made it up to the Little Mermaid, who was covered in flocks of people all trying to take a photo without someone else in it, or with only them in it... Naturally, i saw a challenge and decided to go climbing up near her so i could be world famous by being in everyone's photo! 😊 And also i chose the difficult side so i could talk to her rather than just cuddling her bum like everyone else! We have since discovered that we actually didn't need to go anywhere as there is a little mermaid statue in the foyer of our hotel.... pleased mum didn't see that before we left! hehehe
From there we cut back down through the Latin Quarter and back to the hotel for a breather.. Headed up to Tivoli Gardens that night as we had tickets included in our hotel price... Tivoli was very pretty, but i am pleased we had included tickets as i think i would have felt ripped off paying to get in... you then had to pay for the rides as well as food and anything else... But the park
is beautiful and they have lit it up really well... i am sure they use wind power for their electricity all you environmentally friendly peoples!! 😊 They had a light show to finish, which was a nice way to end the evening...
There are some photos attached that were taken on my phone as my camera battery chose that moment to die and the spare wasnøt working for whatever tempermental reason it has... so apologies if the quality is not so good, but you know there isn't much you can do with a 2.0 megapixal phone camera!
Sleep and breakfast... omg! So much food.... We took some for lunch...
Headed to Carlsberg Brewery this morning and did the self guided tour... made it through to the bar for our free drinks at 12.05pm... how's that for good timing!!!
After the brewery we walked (not stumbled... although i did trip a few times) back to Central to catch the Oresund train going over the Oresund bridge to Malmo in Sweden... Couldn't really see the bridge and the two train stations were too inland for us to get photos... basically it is a tunnel, then a bridge and
it spans the Sound (water between Denmark and Sweden). Kinda cool to say we have been on it... Malmo, very disappointing... if you ever go, stay on the train and go somewhere exciting in Sweden instead! We ended up finding a pretty park to lunch in though and some entertainment provided by the people trying to Kyack... ok so the entertainment was mainly provided by the one lady that fell in... don't worry, i laughed when i fell in too last time i was kayacking!
When we had had enough, we headed up to Helsingborg by train, on which mum got to see some of the Swedish country side and i slept (surprise surprise). Caught the ferry across from Helsingborg (Sweden) to Elsinor (Denmark) where Kronenburg Castle is (Hamlet's Castle). The ferry was awesome... Sydney's public transport could learn ALOT from Europes! The ferry had four levels including a bar with a live band... and that wasn't the best part! The front nose of the ferry opened up like a shark's mouth to let cars, bikes and BUSES get on and off... very cool....
Wandered around Hamlet's Castle trying to take that one postcard photo... gave up and
caught the train back to Copenhagen....
Tonight it has been a veg out night... we finished off some of the leftovers from lunch and packed our bags... tomorrow we are going on a morning canal cruise and then we fly over to Munich were we get to start driving eek!
Hope all is well at home
See you tomorrow some time...

Yay I was hoping there'd be a photo of the opening ferry! I want to go on a bus on a ferry!
