So we got into Amsterdam yesterday after some might long flying and about 4 hours sleep each! We had the weirdest guy next to us and he kept his light on the whole flight even though we asked him to turn it off... Mum tried to sneakily turn it off while he was asleep but he was leaning up near the buttons so that wasn't going to work...

Anyway got here and found our hotel pretty quickly... Were able to check in at 9am which was great and have me the chance to shower and change which I was hanging out for! Also gave me a chance to chill for a bit and reset my head as I was still in my Sydney control freak headspace and tired and everyone here smokes all the time which was a bit of a shock to the system and the hotel chick was really vague and all over the shop, so yes shower and reset head was good!

After climbing 2 of the narrowest staircases ever we read through some tourist stuff we picked up and headed to dam square for a free city walking tour... The tour was great as we learnt a bit of history, a bit about where stuff is and a lot of landmarks for navigation purposes! The tour guide was an American chicky who was lovely and bubbly and made the 4 hour walk entertaining... That night we also did the red light tour with the same chicky which was interesting and funny... The girls all look really sad or bored... Understandable I guess... There were only 4 females on the tour with the bulk of people being male early 20's although watching them on the tour you would think they were 12! All giggling like school girls at the dildo's and oogling the girls and taking photos of fences that had images of naked girls having sex... I guess boys will be boys...

Your ended at a bar up the road from our hotel with a fee shot of jager which I have never had, followed by 2 for 1 Stella's... Jager was alright, kinda a nice balance of sambuca which I hate, and kahlua which is ok... Anyway after no sleep we decided that it was time to crash out and slept so quietly that my phone went off about 24 times through the night with birthday messages and we only heard about 3!

On that note, thank you all that sent birthday wishes, I was trying to reply to them all but it was going to cost me a bomb and I couldn't keep up! So please don't feel unloved because I didn't reply and thankyou for them all was great to wake up to!

Today we went and got some salads and rolls and stuff for lunches on the go... Wandered through the flower markets which were lovely and then meandered down to hire bikes which we rode around vondelpark and then up to the docklands to see the only windmill in the city... All in all we rode about 20kms today and walked 30kms on tours yesterday so have seen loads!

Also the bike stack tally sits at Rachel 1 and mum none and laughing... I have the most pathetic crash injury ever, I do more damage on my drawers at work! Hehe..

After returning the bikes we went to hard rock cafe as the hienekin experience is closed... I got a free icecream as it was my birthday so woohoo to that! We wandered back to the hotel to go through some brochures we had collected to see what else we wanted to do... Really we just needed to rest legs and bum after riding bikes with no suspension over potholes etc hehe...

We decided beer was the go and headed to two bars as we couldn't decide which to go to... The first, cafe kobalt, was busy and noisy and more a wine bar than a beer bar... The second, cafe zool, was the total opposite! After a bit we just wandered back to the hotel took some pretty pics and got frites! No not the devon stuff, fries, aka my fav food group!

After eating and packing for an early start tomorrow (train trip to Brussels for the day) I got to unwrap a birthday present, my second for the day, yay... From mum this morning I got a pretty necklace and from reb sneakily hidden in my bag without me knowing was essendon earrings... Happy times!

So now it's almost midnight and we are on a train at 650 tomorrow so I shall leave you all now..

Enjoy!
