25 - 30 April

HI Guys. We have driven over 1200 km and are now in Exmouth. On Friday we are booked in to go swimming with Whale Sharks which are the biggest fish in the world (up to 12 meters long). We'll go though a quick summary of what we have been up to so far.

We landed in Perth late on the 24h of April and checked into a cheap hotel. The next morning we got our campervan and started driving. We stopped driving after about 4km and did shopping and ate breakfast in the supermarket carpark ---in our campervan! The next stop was the Pinnacles (about 300 km away). We went for about an hour walk and the highlight was 2 emus running though the desert. I managed to get a picture of one of them running right in front of a car. There was an older guy trying to chat up rob about the make and model of his campervan---rob gave him short shrift. From there we drove to Geraldton which was about another 2 hours. We found a campsite and parked up for the night. Total Driving: About 500km

In Geraldton we were very good and went for an hour run before getting back on the road. We only had to drive about 150 km before reaching Karabili which is a small seaside town. We hired a small car to do offroad driving (not good for campervan) and went on a coastal walk (15km) and didn't get back to the campsite until late and were exhausted. Bed by 9pm!

The next morning we went for a 9km called "The loop". From there we saw Natures Window which is a highlight there. The walk was pretty tough and took us nearly 3 hours. From there we had a long drive ahead of us to Carnarvon. We arrived there around 5pm and parked in a really nice campsite and had a few beers before cooking dinner on the BBQ.

On the 28th we drove to Coral Bay which began relaxing time. It was about a 4 hour drive to get there though. We went for a swim and snorkle off the ocean. Then we went for a walk and took it easy. Again beer and BBQ. We played chess and cards before going to bed---Much better than watching Champions League!

Yesterday we woke up early and decided to do some exercise before going on a snorkel boat ride to go swim with Manta Rays. The boatride was great. There were only 6 of us so not crowded at all. Basically, what happens is an airplane takes off and locates the Manta Rays in the ocean. From there the plane directs our boat and we are off to catch up to it. Once we get there, the guide jumps in the water and then we follow to swim with it. We got to swim with two. The first one had a wingspan of about 3 meters and the second was 3.5-4 meters (so about two of Bobby!). It was really impressive. We went snorkeling after that and saw loads of fish, coral, a reef shark and turtles! The coral was amazing. That evening we just took it easy and did some reading before dinner, chess, cards and bed.

This morning we drove the 1.5 hour drive to exmouth, did some shopping and booked up our whale shark trip. We then went for a 50 minute swim at a local pool.

Thats about all for now. We dont have any phone reception here so will try and call down the road if we can.
