Where did I leave off? Oh yes, disembarking the Oceanic II. Saturday morning was pure craziness...try to get 200 people checked out of their rooms, checked out of their onboard accounts, collecting their passports, and off the boat by noon. I did it...somehow...and in fact, I managed to get a 10:30 shuttle to Central Station in Amsterdam. Nate and I didn't have a place to stay for the night because we're both cheap and couldn't justify spending 50 Euros each for a crappy hostel somewhere 10 miles from town. Soooo we left our luggage in lockers at the train station and went out on the town. At about 3 or 4 am we just couldn't take anymore and decided to head back to the train station to catch some zzz's. Well, it turns out the train station closes, or at least is not open to sleep, so we took a train to the airport and slept there! The saddest part of this story? It's not my first time homeless in Amsterdam and choosing to sleep in the chairs of the airport. Needless to say, neither of us slept very well and we welcomed an entire day on a train to sleep the next day.

We arrived in Limoges Sunday night and Will had an amazing stew waiting for us. We checked email like kids who hadn't seen real internet in 4 months, called our Moms and crashed. Monday we spent the day sorting out train tickets and going castle chasing. It was Nate's first time to France so I wanted to show him all of the wonderful things the Dordogne has to offer! We also stopped at the local supermarche so I could pick up some supplies...we had camembert and cranberry sauce, followed by some home made spaghetti and meatballs with spicy sausage. It was SO good to finally cook. 4 months is far too long for someone that loves to be in the kitchen. We sipped some great Bordeaux merlot and were quite satisfied with the day.

Tuesday was another day of train. We left Limoges at 1 and went to Lyon, Dijon and finally Verona, Italy, where I am writing from now. We took a night train from Dijon to Verona and stayed in a cabin with the strangest people. A mother, father and their 20something year old son were traveling Europe on Eurail passes, just like us. They were American, just like us. Unlike us, however, they were straight off the hippie VW bus and were reading aloud some story about selling and doing massive amounts of drugs. Nate and I just sat and stared at each other, passing notes about how ridiculous the situation was. Finally they stopped discussing PCP and we were able to get a bit of sleep. We got to Verona this morning and it took us a couple of hours to sort out the place we are staying. We booked a B&B outside of Verona nestled in the hills. It is gorgeous. Our room is amazing, the house is amazing, its owner is amazing. We showered and headed into town to see Juliet and Romeo's houses, the 3rd largest arena in the world which dates from the 1st century and all of the other sites Verona has to offer. This town is very pretty and exactly what I expected Italy to be.

That is all for now, I have a lot of things I need to take care of and don't want to waste too much time on the internet! I promise more as soon as possible! xoxo Meg
